World Championships 2010 Winner Predictions

It is exactly 16 days until the World Basketball Championships start in Turkey. Many of the top names in basketball have backed out due to injury or NBA teams insurance will not cover them during the FIBA Championships.

It started with one of the biggest names in basketball, 2010 NBA Champion Kobe Bryant who played most of the year injured but helped carry the Lakers to another NBA Championship and his 5th. Next, his teammate Gasol pulled out and that started a sad and long trend.

This years 2010 Turkey FIBA Championship winner will be awarded to the team with the best chemistry and team play. The star players all seemed to have backed out due to fatigue which is understandable in the NBA. An 80+ game season for years back to back can only take you so far - even if it is to represent your country.

World Championships Winner Predictions and Picks

1. Spain - By far the best team in Europe right now. Although playing without Pau Gasol, during their friendly games Spain is undefeated with great play on both ends of the court. There won't be any surprises and without a doubt win the FIBA World Championships. Ricky Rubio the eyes of the team will command and distribute like always, but defense and collective weapons on offense will bring Spain above others.

2. Brazil - During their friendly games and South American Championships, Brazil has shown that they are ready by winning the gold and playing great. However, I expect them to show up big in Turkey. With Tiago Splitter and guard Leandro Barbosa in the line up expect them to play fast basketball. Brazil will be playing in the Nike World Basketball Festival this weekend.

3. USA - Team USA has taken a blow on many levels with top names not playing, however, Coach K is bound to find a way for his team to rack up a medal. Although, I don't predict that they will win the Gold, they will fight for a medal. Look for Kevin Grant, Tyson Chandler and Rajon Rondo to make big plays to help their team.
