Moving Today's Market

A few aces are taking the mound for their teams, and a couple are causing big market moves.

The Brewers CC Sabathia (10-8, 3.33 ERA) squares off against Braves rookie Charlie Morton (2-4, 7.26) in Atlanta. Milwaukee opened at Pinnacle as -159 favorites, but are currently sitting at -181 and drawing 83% of the moneyline wagers (and 96% of spread wagers).

In a matchup featuring two of baseball's weakest offenses, Padres ace Jake Peavy (8-6, 2.67) faces the Giants 126-Million Dollar Man Barry Zito (5-13, 5.80). San Diego opened at Cris as -205 favorites but have moved to -240 behind 70% of the moneyline bets.

It's not surprising that the Yankees series with the Angels is drawing in a lot of bettors. The Angels and Jared Weaver (9-8, 4.11) look to improve on their ML-best record (69-40) against New York's 13-game winner Mike Mussina (13-7, 3.56).

The line has gone through some see-saw movement, but has currently returned to match its opening at Pinnacle (Yankees -132).

Key Market Moves

The Pirates received a Smart Money alert in today's first game as they take on the Cubs. Pittsburgh starter Paul Maholm has pitched well over the last month (2.43 ERA), but hasn't fared well against the Cubs in his career (6.15 ERA).

Chicago starter Ted Lilly has a 5.34 ERA at Wrigley Field this season, and hasn't fared well against the Pirates in two starts this season with an 8.38 ERA and .395 batting average against.
