My PPV Predictions for WWE SummerSlam 2010

Ah, SummerSlam! The WrestleMania of the summer, and yet it doesn't seem like this to me for reason this year. I'm not very excited about SummerSlam this year like I usually am. I don't know why, but I'm just not feeling this 7-on-7 tag team elimination match at the biggest blockbuster of the summer. These type of matches are usually reserved for Survivor Series, but whatever I guess. The only pro to this con is that with all the major stars in 2-3 matches, this gives the under card more time to shine. Can't argue with that!

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match

Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Kofi Kingston

Who I Want to Win: Dolph Ziggler

Who Will Win: Dolph Ziggler

Kinda figured they'd do this match, even though we just had a title change last week on SmackDown. Due to that, don't except the belt to go back to Kofi. This will be the perfect opportunity for Kofi to do what Rey Mysterio refused to do at last year's SummerSlam, and that's put Dolph Ziggler over. I expect this match to be the curtain jerker of the evening, but a fast-paced, high flying match as well. I can see Vickie Guerrero being the deciding factor in this. Nonetheless, Dolph Ziggler leaves SummerSlam STILL the Intercontinental Champion.

WWE Divas Championship Match

Alicia Fox (c) vs. Melina

Who I Want to Win: Alicia Fox

Who Will Win: Melina

Wow, this match is really happening so soon?! Why? Nothing against Melina, but seriously come on! She comes back one week, beats the champion in a non-title match the next week, and will probably go onto win the title the following week?! Overrated much? Someone on twitter called her the female John Cena, but I don't think I quite agree with that. She's the new Mickie James. How long before Melina's a 6,7-time Women's Champion? I guess I shouldn't be complaining too much. Melina is one of the few divas left that the fans actually care about. It's just kinda a slap in the face to Alicia Fox, that's all. WWE pushes her to the moon, beating majority of the Raw divas in the process (not all of them, like she claimed last week). Then, Melina comes back, and she gets squashed like a bug. Expect Melina to be crowned a 2-time Divas Champion, and an overall 5-time Women's Champion come SummerSlam. If WWE books this right, they'll wait till Night of Champions for the title switch. But this is the WWE, and we all know how they seem to careless when it comes to the divas.

Handicap Match

The Big Show vs. The Straight Edge Society (CM Punk, Luke Gallows, & Joey Mercury)

Who I Want to Win: The Big Show

Who Will Win: The Big Show

Okay, this is interesting. A 3-on-1 handicap match at SummerSlam? What and why is what I wanna know! I understand that the Big Show has been feuding with SES since last month, but come on a 3-on-1 handicap match! That's all WWE could come up with. I mean, I know CM Punk's arm is injured but couldn't they of done something else. Get Big Show some tag team partners and make it a 6-man tag. Wouldn't be the first time there's been a 6-man tag at SummerSlam, won't be the last. I'm gonna say Big Show defeats the odds and beats SES.

Divas Tag Team Match

Co-WWE Women's Champions LayCool (Michelle McCool & Layla) vs. Blondetourage (Kelly Kelly & Tiffany)

Who I Want to Win:LayCool (Michelle McCool and Layla)

Who Will Win: LayCool (Michelle McCool and Layla)

I'm kinda happy they're waiting till Night of Champions for the Michelle/Layla match, so what better way to officially end the LayCool/Blondetourage feud then to have a match at SummerSlam. I mean, they are finally ending this feud, right? I certainly hope so because it's been going on since June and there's only so many times you can do Michelle McCool vs. Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool vs. Tiffany, Layla vs. Kelly Kelly, and Layla vs. Tiffany before people get tired of it, and I think they already are. Going off their tag team match on Superstars a month or so ago, if given the right amount of time, this match could turn out being better than the Divas Championship match. Rather or not this feud ends here, I see LayCool winning this. Unless of course this is the official start of the implosion of LayCool. If that's the case, expect Blondetourage to win. Guess we'll have to wait and see!

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match

Kane (c) vs. Rey Mysterio

Who I Want to Win: Kane

Who Will Win: Kane

Um WWE, what happened to the Jack Swagger-Undertaker match we were supposed to have? Or the Kane/Undertaker Casket Match? You don't give us those and instead give us this?! How many times have we seen Kane/Rey Mysterio over the past few years? And I thought Rey Rey was supposed to be taking time off due to his leg surgery? But of course, since SummerSlam is in Los Angeles again this year and his hometown is San Diego, he couldn't miss this right? Wrong! Jack Swagger should be the one challenging Kane for the belt, not little Rey Rey. But alas, that's not the case. With that said, I see Kane retaining clean here. Maybe eventually losing to The Undertaker in a retirement match at WrestleMania.

WWE Championship Match

Sheamus (c) vs. Randy Orton

Who I Want to Win: Randy Orton

Who Will Win: Randy Orton

Okay, I for one do not like the way this feud has been booked so far. Interview segments and coming out after a match to RKO or (whatever Sheamus' finisher is) someone is all well and good, but this is the exact same way their previous title feud leading up to their match at the Royal Rumble was. Why not create a story this time? Yeah, The Miz's involvement is a nice little twist, but this feud has been only blah to me. It could be so much more, but I guess WWE creative is on snooze control for the summer. Or maybe they're so concerned about the big 7-on-7 match, that they could careless about this match. Whatever the case, I see Randy Orton walking out of SummerSlam the NEW WWE Champion. Why? Because he needs the win more than Sheamus does, that's why!

7-on-7 Tag Team Elimination Match

Team Nexus (Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Darren Young, Skip Sheffield, Justin Gabriel, Michael Tarver, & Heath Slater) vs. Team WWE (John Cena, Edge, Chris Jericho, Bret Hart, John Morrison, The Miz, & R-Truth)

Who I Want to Win: Team Nexus

Who Will Win: Team WWE

Well duh, Team WWE wins. Or will they? Rumors have been running wild the past few weeks that John Cena will be turning heel at SummerSlam. As of late, I'm starting to believe them but I'm not entirely sure. Nonetheless, I do sense some type of swerve in this match. Will the anonymous General Manager finally be revealed? And if so, will it be The Rock? Michael Cole? Triple H? Guess we'll just have to wait and see, but I see Team WWE winning here to send the fans home happy. I also think this will be the main event. And though not officially confirmed, I also think The Miz will be the seventh man on Team WWE after his interaction with John Cena and Bret Hart on RAW. Just call it a hunch.

In closing, it's baffling to me as to why such talent as Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, Drew McIntyre, Christian, and Matt Hardy to name a few are being kept off the SummerSlam card this year. But whatever the reason, this PPV has the potential of being one of the best of the year thus far. Lets just hope WWE doesn't screw it up! Leave me your predictions in the comments and tell me what you think of mine!
