WWE Summerslam 2010 Predictions by The Dude

The Doctor Chris MuellerAug 12, 2010

Well folks, Summerslam is right around the corner and its time for some predictions. This years event will offer several matches that will be sure to deliver some great action and expand on some growing story lines.

There are so many feuds coming to a head that this may be one of the most entertaining Summerslam events in years.

We will see Big Show take on all three members of the straight edge society in a handicap match. Big Show is certainly not a man you want to go toe to toe with, but can the giant overtake all three superstars who want to put him out?

John Cena is leading team WWE against Nexus this Sunday. Can the orange and blue clad warrior lead his team to victory, or will Nexus solidify their place on the roster?

Randy Orton is set to face one of his toughest opponents in Sheamus. Will the Celtic Warrior ba able to take the venom out of the viper, or will he be met with another RKO?

Kofi Kingston Vs Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Title

1 of 7

Kofi Kingston recently lost his coveted Intercontinental Title to Dolph Ziggler on an episode of Smackdown. After the match Kofi went insane and beat the living hell out of Dolph. He repeatedly slammed Dolph's head into the steel ring steps.

This feud had not really garnered that much attention until the attack by Kingston. These two are now in the middle of a very personal feud. Kofi lost a title he held for awhile, while Dolph gained his first singles title in his WWE career.

While Kofi may be the favorite in this match, I predict that Ziggler will hold onto the gold for a bit longer. Vickie is by his side, and she is known to cost superstars matches by interfering on their opponents behalf.

I think it will come down to Kofi losing due to some kind of Guerrero cheating, and then he will most likely go crazy again and give Ziggler another beatdown.

3 on 1 Handicap Match: Big Show Vs Straight Edge Society

2 of 7

Big Show is going into this one hurt. After the recent attack on his arm by the SES he may not be able to employ the moves he usually uses to end a match. His knockout punch and chokeslam will both suffer due to his hand not being 100 percent.

CM Punk has been injured for a little but, but you haven't had a week without seeing him berate the audience, talent and even his own team members. His heel promos are gaining critical acclaim and this match will be his first time back in the ring since his arm injury.

I predict that this one will end with Big Show getting beat. He is massive for sure, but size can only go so far against three man. CM Punk has proven that he can hold his own against big men, and Gallows and Mercury are no slouches either.

Serena is sure to be at ringside for this one, and her role may end up being more than just valet in this match. I hope at some point the SES gets some steam because WWE has not done a very good job of making them look like a strong stable.

Divas Title Match and Laycool Vs Kelly Kelly and Tiffany

3 of 7

I decided to throw these two matches into one slide. Its not because the Divas are any less important, but the WWE does not really feature them the way they could be features, and therefore I have less to write about.

As far as the Divas title match goes, I see Alicia Fox retaining against a returning Melina. Fox is not the best in ring worker but WWE officials are said to be very high on her right now. WWE may not want to risk taking the title off her so soon.

I also predict that Laycool will be victorious over Kelly and Tiffany. WWE has been very happy with the way the Laycool gimmick is working and they will surely want to keep capitalizing on that.

Kane Vs Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight Title

4 of 7

This match is one that we have seen before, but never with so much anger and emotion. Kane is accusing Rey of being the one that took out the Undertaker, while Rey is pissed that he lost his title to Kane at MITB.

Kane has been on a rampage over the past couple of months trying to find the culprit to his brothers attack. He has accused everyone but the chairman himself of taking out the dead man.

Rey maintains hie s innocent, but his quest to regain his title will not be stopped. Rey only held his second world title for about a month, and he wants his third reign to start at Summerslam.

I see Kane retaining the belt for two reasons. One, he is most likely going to feud with Undertaker when he makes his return, and having a title in the mix would help. Two, Kane has been dominating everyone lately and I just don't see Rey slaying this giant.

Sheamus Vs Randy Orton for the WWE Title

5 of 7

Sheamus has had a whirlwind career in the WWE. He gained his first WWE title after only five months with the company, and he gained his second title before his one year mark with the organization. He was pushed to the main event as soon as ECW was over.

Randy Orton has had an amazing career thus far, gaining multiple World and WWE title, as well as mid card and tag team titles along the way. Orton is a third generation star who has become of WWE's most popular anti-hero characters in history.

These two men have faced off before, but this time the feeling is different. The buildup to this match has been great and both men appear to be in peak physical condition going into this match.

I would love to say Orton will come away the winner, but I have to say that Sheamus will probably retain. Having Sheamus as champion gives WWE a better image in European countries, and considering how quickly his first reign ended, they probably want to give the pale fighter some more time with the belt.

Team WWE Vs Team Nexus

6 of 7

This match is sure to be exciting. John Cena has assembled a team with some of WWE's best and brightest stars, along with a living legend. Nexus on the other hand are all young hungry competitors who have something to prove.

This has been one of my favorite feuds in years. The buildup to this match has been epic and the WWE has finally found something interesting to keep people guessing.

This match could go either way. Nexus took on seven other Raw stars recently and shut them out by not having a single Nexus member eliminated. On the other hand Team WWE has ome of the best in the world on their side.

Jericho, Edge, Cena, Morrison, Truth, and Hart are not playing games when it comes to taking on Nexus.

I predict team WWE to come away with the win, but not without consequences. Nexus will probably attack once the match is over and leave one or more of team WWE injured. We will have to wait until Sunday to see.

I must say that I am surprised that the Tag Team and US titles are not on the card for Sunday, but there is only room for so much, I guess. I apologize if any of this article came off as incoherent or sloppy. I have been sick lately and the medicine I am on is kind of trippy so right now I am not in the right state of mind.
