Langston might be known better for his off-the-field benefits to the Mariners. When he was traded in 1989, he was traded to the Montreal Expos for a pitcher named Randy Johnson. You can say the Mariners got a pretty good deal. Fast forward six years later to 1995, Langston would be the pitcher to blow the one game playoff to enable the M's to continue their magical 1995 ride into the playoffs.

His actual on the field performance as a Mariner wasn't that bad either. Langston started his career with a stellar rookie year putting up a 17-10 record with a 3.40 era. He ended up finishing second to his teammate, Alvin Davis in Rookie of the year voting. Two years later in 1987 he made the All-Star team and finished 5th in Cy Young voting with a 19-13 record, led the league in strikeouts with 242, and had a 3.84 era.

He was one of the top pitchers in the league at the time and also was probably the best defensive pitcher at the time, winning one gold glove as a Mariner in 1987. He ranks 2nd all-time in pickoffs to Kenny Rogers with 91 career pick offs.
