OAKLAND, CA—Fans and media gathered at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, CA to watch UFC 117's combatants weigh in for the weekend's UFC event.
When it comes down to a UFC weigh-in, one of the things that people look forward to most is the potential for intense stare-downs between the fight card's participants.
Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen—but mainly Sonnen—have been riding a wave of hype going into this affair, and the anticipation leading up to their stare-down had built up to moment the two made their way up on the weigh-in stage.
Much like Sonnen did at yesterday's pre-fight press conference, Silva came to the face of his opponent then turned his attention in the direction of the crowd while Sonnen stared at the left side of the champion's face.
One issue of note: Thiago Alves weighed in a half pound over the 171-pound limit for his fight with Jon Fitch. He will compete in the fight at that weight.
Here are the rest of the weigh-in results for UFC 117.
