Boris Said Back on the Track
Attention all "Said Heads"āyour driver Boris is back on the track.Ā He is racing this weekend in the Nationwide race in Montreal and will race again the following weekend in the Nationwide and Cup contests at Watkins Glen.
Said, in the SoBe NO FEAR energy sponsored car, is a road race master and he joins the NASCAR circuit whenever the road races occur on the schedule.Ā
He is always exciting to watch, whether grabbing the pole in the Pepsi 400 at Daytona last year or spinning out wildly at Infineon this season.Ā Ā Boris Said goes all out whenever and wherever he is racing.
He is also the master Yoda of road racing, teachingĀ many of the up-and-coming drivers in the sport.Ā Said has even schooled Sprint Cup racers like Kasey Kahne and Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who seek him out for his road racing prowess.
Like many racers, Boris learned early in his life about the need for speed.Ā In fact, his father, also named Boris, was a U.S. Olympic bobsledder and a Formula One driver.Ā
Said came to stock car racing later in life.Ā His initial love was the motorcycle and he credits this love with saving him from a life as a juvenile delinquent.Ā Ā At the tender age of 14 years, he was hanging with the wrong crowd and getting into all kinds of trouble.Ā That is when he got a job working in a motorcycle shop and fell in love with all things mechanical.
He began racing in the early 1980s, where an instructor from the Skip Barber Racing School in his home state assured him he had no talent.Ā But that did not deter Boris and he continued pursuing his racing career, taking his bucket of tools to whatever ride or team would have him.
Said began his NASCAR career in 1995 in the Craftsman Truck series at what was then Sears Point International Speedway.Ā His 24th place finish was not indicative of the talent that he brought to the track and made him even hungrier to race on a full-time basis.
YetĀ he is still searching for that elusive full-time ride so he can compete with his NASCAR buddies and idols.Ā He tirelessly pitches his sponsor, where his funding increases for every energy drink sold.Ā He encourages his curly-wigged fans that stand by him almost religiously each and every race that he enters.Ā Ā And he works just about as hard in the garage as on the track, always the cheerleader for his team.
So, will the race in Montreal or Watkins Glen be his time to shine this year?Ā We can only don our wig and cheer as our favorite Said Head takes to the track.
