Les Miles and Snoop Dogg in the Baton R'izzle?

Brian ScottJul 31, 2008

It had already promised to be anything other than an ordinary summer meeting for the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge.  The annual address by the head coach of the LSU Tigers always ensures a packed house, but this time there would be an unexpected special guest.

If anyone would have asked Les Miles who the guest would be prior to arriving, he might have guessed they were referring to his giant 2007 National Championship ring, which probably needed its own seat in the car.

The captain of the LSU 'ship received a raucous standing ovation as he made his way to the podium, and wasn't very far into his remarks when there was a sudden interruption.  Apparently, there was a special member of the audience who wished to come up and say hello to Miles.

Famous rapper and music producer Snoop Dogg made his way to the podium.  Snoop was in town after performing at a Baton Rouge concert venue the previous night.

“I just wanted to give my love and support to coach Miles,” Snoop Dogg said during his brief remarks.  The full video of the appearance can be seen here.

It is well known that Snoop Dogg, a native of Long Beach, California, is a loyal USC fan and watches many of their games from the sidelines.

In fact, the appearance was a surprise especially to those familiar with Snoop Dogg's less than flattering comments about Les Miles in one of his songs.  Apparently, Miles' assertion that teams in other conferences would have an easier road to the BCS title game than teams in the SEC offended Snoop.

The audio of Snoop Dogg's profanity-laced rant can be heard here.

Nevertheless, the rapper and the national championship coach seemed to have put all that behind them Wednesday, as their remarks were very complimentary of each other.  Miles even said that he had become a fan of Snoop's music through his son, Ben Miles.
