Chris Masters: Why Isn't He Being Pushed?

“The Masterpiece”, Chris Masters.

Standing tall at 6’4, weighing 265 pounds, and at the young age of 27 years old. (Can you believe he’s only 27?!?)

He has the physique of Batista, but has the wrestling ability to back it up. He has the charisma and personality to be a face or a heel. He is a marketable WWE superstar.

So why is he does he wrestle most of his matches on Superstars? Why hasn’t he had a title shot in God knows when?

Run-Ins with WWE Wellness Policy. . .

In 2007, Chris Masters was suspended for 30 days for failing a drug test. On November 2, 2007 Masters was suspended (again) for 60 days for violating WWE’s Substance Abuse and Drug Policy a second time. Six days later, Chris was released from his WWE contract on November 8, 2007.

Ok, so Chris has had some run-ins with WWE Wellness Policy. I can understand why WWE would lose faith and confidence in him because of it, but that’s really no excuse. For example, Randy Orton has had suspensions and other issues, but constantly upon his return, he is placed back in the main event.

His Wrestling Ability and Physique

For his size, Chris is a very technical and aggressive wrestler. He has the size that Vince likes, but also has the wrestling ability to match it. I like to compare him to Batista because their size is similar, but they have so many differences when it comes to wrestling ability. Batista, as we all know, was very limited when it came to wrestling ability. His moveset consisted of punches, slams, and powerbombs. Chris Masters’s moveset consists of his signature submission move “The Masterlock”, DDT’s, suplexes, and many other wrestling moves.

Age

Chris is only 27 years old. He still has many years left in his career. With many veterans looking to retire in the next coming years, the WWE is trying to make new stars. (Jack Swagger, Sheamus, etc.) Chris Masters is younger than both Swagger (28) and Sheamus(32)! So if WWE is trying to create new stars, Chris Masters is their man.

Fresh Feuds

Chris could help build new feuds over secondary championships and in the main event. If he remains face, he could challenge The Miz over on Raw for his United States Championship and force him to defend it. If he turns heel, could go after Rey Mysterio if he wins the WHC, or he could feud with Kofi Kingston over the Intercontinental Championship. He could also go after John Cena and restart their feud. I personally prefer Chris as a heel, because he has the aggression that we need from heels right now.

Main Event Experience

In 2005 Chris Masters saw a glimpse of the main event. He was in a triple threat submission match for the WWE championship against Kurt Angle and then-champion John Cena. Before the match, Chris attacked John and applied “The Masterlock”, and he became the first and only wrestler to bring John to unconsciousness. Chris Masters knows what it’s like to be in the main event, because he already has. He had a feud with John Cena over the WWE Championship, but despite attacking John multiple times, he never won the gold.

Anyway, I hope WWE will wake up and smell the coffee when it comes to Chris Masters. He is a great wrestler and could be a great addition to the main event scene of WWE if used right.

It’s not too late!

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment. (: I'd love to hear your opinion.
