WWE: Shawn Michaels Addresses Speculation Regarding His Future

Chris O ConnallCorrespondent IIIAugust 2, 2010

As you've probably guessed by now, this article involves the "Showstopper"—"Mr. Wrestlemania," the "Heart-Break Kid."

Yes, Shawn Michaels.

Michaels recently replied to speculation about his future via twitter, by allegedly posting a very short message: "I'm staying retired. Understand speculation though."

Should this prove to have been posted by Hickenbottom, and not an imposter, it should once and for all end rumours regarding his involvement with current WWE storylines.

That means he didn't attack Undertaker, he isn't the anonymous General Manager of Raw, and he is not the leader of Nexus.

In my opinion, Shawn is doing the right thing.

He is honoring his decision and keeping his word to Undertaker and Vince McMahon.

But, more importantly, he is keeping his word to his wife and kids.

Michaels has had a great career. He doesn't need to prove anything.

He isn't as foolish as other wrestlers who have had the Wrestlemania sendoff. By that, I mean he is not willing to tarnish his career by returning and blading every other week.

However, if Shawn was to return, he wouldn't tarnish his career as he is still a better wrestler than at least 80 percent of the current WWE roster.

So, it would appear that Shawn Michaels is enjoying his retirement and has no intention of returning, at least in the short term. It is interesting to note, though, that he has said in the past that he would like to get involved with the business again once his children are old enough.

I for one hope to see him in a WWE ring again someday, even if it is only a cameo at Raw's 900th episode, but I'm not holding my breath.

Shawn, enjoy your retirement. If anybody deserves it, it's you.
