Will Manny Ramirez Feel the Brotherly Love from the Philadelphia Phillies?
Can you imagine Rollins, Utley, Howard, and Manny Ramirez all batting together in the same lineup? Well, that could become a reality before Thursday's trade deadline.
SI.com reports, as of early Wednesday morning, that the Phillies and Red Sox are now talking and LF Pat Burrell is in the mix.

The Red Soxย have been talking to the Phillies and two other teams about a possible trade for embattled superstar Manny Ramirez, people familiar with the talks told SI.com.
The Phillies may now be the front-runner for Ramirez, who apparently has indicated a willingness to go to Philadelphia if the two teams can consummate a trade. Red Sox officials identified Philadelphia as a possible landing spot for Ramirez a few days ago, and the Phillies have shown interest.
On Tuesday, Red Sox fans boo'd Manny off of the field as he failed to beat out a groundball down the left side that would have broken up a no-hitter by Lackey. Lucky for Manny, Dustin Pedroia broke up the no-hitter later in the game, not that he cares anyways.ย
It seems Red Sox fans have quickly forgotten about their two recent championships and areย completely tired of "Manny being Manny". They are ready to move on. After his comments over the weekend on the radio, Manny stated that, "They are tired of me, and I am tired of them," when he was referring to the Red Sox's organization.
Theo Epstein and Pat Gillick could be on each other's speed dial right now, trying to get a deal worked out.ย
Gillick, the Phillies' GM, made a big move as soonย after he was put into place in 2005, moving slugger Jim Thome to the White Sox for Aaron Rowand and prospects Gio Gonzalez and Daniel Haigwood.
While the Phillies don't really need to make a move right now, they don't really have much to gain or lose, depending on how the deal goes down. Manny Ramirez is a big-time slugger, but he can also be a big-time distraction.
Manny has the most career grand slams among active players with 20, and could easily add to that number with the likes of Rollins, Utley, and Howard hitting before him.
Also, the quality of pitches Howard would see should increase, while the pitcher is thinking about the hitter in the on-deck circle and not the one at the plate.
There is one big problem however. 31-year-old infielder Mike Cervenak is currently wearing Manny's number for the Phillies. Cervenak will probably settle for an autographed bat and a hug, and he should be happy to give up the No. 24.
Here is a look at a possible lineup, if the deal went down with Burrell in the mix:
SS - Jimmy Rollins
2B - Chase Utley
1B - Ryan Howard
LF - Manny Ramirez
RF - Geoff Jenkins
CF - Shane Victorino
3B - P. Feliz / G. Dobbs
C - C. Ruiz / C. Coste
Now, the big question is: What do Phillies fans think about this?ย
I can't speak for them, but as a fan of the game, I can only say that this would be a good move for both teams, depending on the players involved.
For Boston, Manny is gone at the end of the year anyways, and he is a huge distraction. If you replace him with Pat Burrell, will you miss him that much this year? I doubt it, not with that lineup full of sluggers.
For Philadelphia, how can you not like this deal? Yeah, he can be a distraction, but the Phillies can run away with the NL East with an offense like that one.
All I know is that the New York Mets better sweeten their pot if this deal gets close. I don't think they want to face this lineup in the home stretch.
Oh, and by the way, one can only imagine the scene at Citizens Bankย Park the night Manny would pass Mike Schmidt in home runs, which isn't too far away. He only needs 38 more. It's also a shame that he is leaving Boston before he passes Ted Williams and Jimmie Foxx.
