Olympic Football: Brazil vs. Singapore-The smile is back.

Brazilian Football by SBJul 27, 2008

The Brazilian Olympic team beat Singapore 3-0 with goals by Diego, Ronaldinho and Jô.

The match was played under very hot conditions and served as a run for Brazil to find rhythm for their upcoming Olympic bid.

A lot of one-time close in touches were employed as the Brazilian players sought to get familiar with each other.

The great attraction was the return of Ronaldinho and his vibrant smile to the world stage for the national squad after being some nine months absent.

He set up one with a neat little back-heal and scored another with some very talented play. Off a Pato rebound Ronaldinho made three keep-up touches into the goal, eluding the defender in the process.

Ramires came on to replace the slow and often out of place Anderson and he showed why he was Dunga`s choice to replace Robinho, who will not be participating.

Fluminense star Tiago Neves survived the weight of the yellow jersey to produce some great football as he also set up the third goal.

The goalie Renan had not a touch in the first half but managed to get some work in the second.

Alex Silva was sent off close to the end for splitting the Singapore number 11's lip with an elbow seemingly tired of the constant fouls of the opponent who had come on in the second half.

Alex will have to get a grip on that temperament as many frustrated opponents should be trying to get a piece of Brazil at the upcoming tournament.

The match was a typical training match for the Brazilian Olympic group but the good news is that the smile is back.

Ronaldinho looked a bit off from his usual world class level but with every touch a sparkle of genius shone.
