Edmonton Eskimos-BC Lions preview

Avry Lewis-McDougallContributor IJuly 3, 2010

The preseason is over in the CFL and now, it’s serious. The Esks finished the preseason with record of 1-1 and will start the regular season tomorrow afternoon vs. the BC Lions (their 2nd preseason game was a 36-32 win over the BC Lions in Vancouver). Coming out of the preseason without a doubt as always Ricky Ray remains the #1 QB for the Eskimos. The big question mark for the Esks is more on the defensive side of the ball with a lack of veteran defensive backs. The esks, do have some premier linebackers in the form of signing Javi Glatt from the Lions and the return of Maurice Lloyd who is ready to step up his play after only getting 4 sacks last season. The Esks also brought in slotbacks Andre Talbot and Brad Smith from the Toronto Argonauts.

The BC Lions, have back their all star quarterback Casey Printers who led the injury riddled Lions back to the playoffs and beat the Hamilton Tiger Cats 34-27 and threw for 340 yards. The Lions, also bolstered their defense with the signing of Davis Sanchez who even at the age of 35 is still one of the premier DBs in the league. Geroy Simon is back for the Lions and look for him to be as always the main guy that Printers will try and go to deep downfield.

This game will most definitely be a shootout with both Ray and Printers can throw deep downfield at will and the both of them do have the ability to scramble expect both teams to put up 40 points.

Prediction: Eskimos win 44-41.
