The Pro Wrestling Top 25: Runnin' Wilde

Ron JohnsonJul 25, 2008

Last week, we tried something different...and it WORKED! Many thought that this would just be swept under the rug, but I'm back with a vengeance. So if you want some...come get some! 'Cause I'm bringing it this week!

No. 1 Taylor Wilde (TNA, LW: No. 21)

The unlikely Champion was out to prove that she was deserving of the gold. And she did prove it…three times against The Beautiful People. Now she has a tag team match with Gail Kim against TBP this Thursday on IMPACT!

Saturday Night Main Event Live Grades 🔠

No. 2 Matt Hardy (ECW, LW: No. 1)

The former United States Champion said that when one door closes, another one opens. He was proven true to his word as he earned a shot at the ECW Championship at Summerslam against Mark Henry.

No. 3 Triple H (SmackDown!, LW: No. 5)

The Game may not have been in action, but after defeating Edge in The Great American Bash, the WWE Champion now knows that he will face The Great Khali at Summerslam for the gold.

No. 4 John Cena (RAW, LW: No. 7)

The Doctor may have come up short in the Parking Lot Brawl, but he got even as he delivered a double FU to the World Tag Team Champions. After the ending, it’s clear that there is some animosity left between him and Batista.

No. 5 Batista (RAW, LW: No. 11)

The Animal made himself GM for the night, made one match and by the end of the night, got screwed by JBL’s interference. Something is bound to happen at Summerslam. And I’m sure it involves an old friend in John Cena.

No. 6 CM Punk (RAW, LW: No. 8)

The World Heavyweight Champion survived Batista and Kane at the Bash, came to Batista’s aid on RAW, and then was sent out by an envious JBL. All heck is bound to break loose when Shane McMahon comes to RAW this Monday.

No. 7 Kaz (TNA, LW: No. 4)

Kaz has made his intentions clear. He’s leaving TNA. For that reason, and for all that he’s done, he’s earned a spot in the Top 25. Next week he’ll elaborate in Karen’s Angle about his departure from TNA.

No. 8 Jeff Hardy (SmackDown!, LW: No. 17)

The rainbow-haired warrior defied the odds and almost won the BOTS Battle Royal. His biggest challenges were no match for his perseverance. Despite being eliminated, he did manage to send Big Show over the top before getting tossed by The Great Khali.

No. 9 Tommy Dreamer (ECW, LW: UNR)

The ECW Original came within a heartbeat of becoming the new ECW Champion. Thanks to his former friend, he came up short. But don’t worry, because he broke that egomaniac in half this past Tuesday.

No. 10 Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder (SmackDown!, LW: UNR)

The Edgeheads were thought of as nothing more than a one hit wonder. After the Bash, they can find new ways to upset The Dirt Sheet. Even worse, they can tell the former Tag Team Champions two simple words: “Be Jealous.”

No. 11 Cryme Tyme (RAW, LW: No. 18)

The Boys from Brooklyn have been a force to be reckoned with as they have taken the fight to the Tag Team Champions. Now they have set themselves up for a possible match at Summerslam for the gold. Not a bad day at the office, I would say.

No. 12 Michelle McCool (SmackDown!, LW: UNR)

The eldest member of the Divas culminated her career by becoming the first ever Divas Championship winner this past Sunday. Now the question is, who will step up and challenge her?

No. 13 Kurt Angle (TNA, LW: UNR)

The Olympic Gold Medalist has been a complete jerk since disrespecting his wife. You may not like his methods, but with Frank Trigg in his back pocket, he is setting himself up for another run at the TNA World Championship.

No. 14 Vickie Guerrero (SmackDown!, LW: UNR)

The General Manager laid the SmackDown! on her husband’s lover. Despite getting speared by Edge, she did pull out her wild card by reinstating and putting her husband in a match with The Undertaker at Summerslam.

No. 15 The Undertaker (SmackDown!, LW: UNR)

IF anyone has a problem with The Phenom being on the Top 25, take it up with him. Now that the Deadman is coming back to the WWE, it’s clear that things will get interesting. He’s back in his yard.

No. 16 Kofi Kingston (RAW, LW: No. 10)

The Jamaican Sensation lost a hard fought one against The Burchills. But he has managed to make himself more than just a one hit wonder as it’s clear whom he’ll face at Summerslam.

No. 17 The Great Khali (SmackDown!, LW: UNR)

The Punjabi Giant destroyed Big Show last week and finished off Jeff Hardy tonight. Now the man from India will have his toughest challenge since John Cena. He’s got a match against Triple H for the WWE Championship at Summerslam.

No. 18 Mickie James (RAW, LW: No. 20)

The Women’s Champion lost to Paul and his sister this past Monday. Even though she got the win last week, she now has to find a way to fend off the onslaught of one Katie Lea Burchill.

No. 19 John Morrison (ECW, LW: No. 2)

The tag champs had a bad week. They lost the tag titles at the Bash without being pinned. They lost the fatal four way on ECW. To top it all off, Morrison may have a rivalry brewing…with his partner.

No. 20 The Miz (ECW, LW: No. 3)

The chick magnet may need the chicks after this week. The reason: Refer to Morrison’s stats.

No. 21 Kennedy (SmackDown!, LW: No. 23)

The Green Bay Loudmouth has the crowd on his side, but that doesn’t guarantee victories. Still, it seems that he has a partner in his fight against MVP’s big mouth in Jeff Hardy.

No. 22 Motor City Machine Guns (TNA, LW: No. 14)

They fought a valiant fight against Beer Money. Despite the loss, it was Jacqueline who helped their opponents win the match. But trust me when I say this: This war with BMI isn’t over.

No. 23 Kane (RAW, LW: No. 9)

Who cares if he’s alive or dead? Apparently Kane does, and in his evil eyes, that’s all that matters. But he might want to find the answers soon…because he’s slowly being swept under the rug.

No. 24 The Beautiful People (TNA, LW: UNR)

Angelina Love and Velvet Sky are making it clear that they are better than everyone else. But they couldn’t even get past Taylor Wilde this past Thursday. Now they’re left suffering the reverse hat trick.

No. 25 Edge (SmackDown!, LW: No. 6)

The Rated R Superstar thought he had it all figured out this week. But Bam Neely saw through his lie and exposed him. Now the Ultimate Opportunist has to face a man from his past in one of the deadliest structures in WWE history at Summerslam. SWEET!
