Door Closes on Glenn, Another One Opens For Others

James GrahamJul 25, 2008

Well I thought it would be fitting for this to be my first article. As well all know the Dallas Cowboys boarded a plane to Oxford, Ca. for the start of training camp. Terry Glenn did not board that plane and it just shows you his dark side of a bad relationship with Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones. It's not like Jones never liked Glenn but for Glenn to just take Jerry's money like he did last season and only get "four plays out of him last season" it goes to show you how Glenn is as a whole. Jerry had every right to do what he did to Glenn, I mean its not like Jerry isn't a nice guy, he is an owner who wants to win and I like that about him and Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban and personally I hope they don't bring back Terry Glenn and just part ways with him for good. He had his shining years with the Cowboys with the likes of Vinny Testaverde and Drew Bledsoe but it was never going to work with Tony Romo if Glenn could never get on the field with his knee injury. At his age and with the stress your knees can give you in any sporting event it just shows us how quickly you can fall as a professional athlete with an injury. They cut Terry Glenn earlier this afternoon and now it opens the door for the likes of Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, Miles Austin or even Isaiah Stanback. Personally Crayton is better fit as a slot receiver then a number two receiver to compliment Terrell Owens. With the Cowboys a reported 10 million dollars under the salary cap they should pursue a trade for either Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin or the Lions Roy Williams. With Terrell Owens up in age how many more years can he give the Cowboys. They need to get younger at that position and also need proven talent like a Boldin or Williams. For the Cowboys to start next season in the new Texas Stadium it would look real good for them to be the defending Super Bowl champs in that beautiful new stadium. The Cowboys have improved their defense on paper from last season with the two cornerbacks they drafted and acquiring Adam "Pacman" Jones and Zach Thomas. Also improving their running back position from last year with drafting Tashard Choice and Felix the other Jones. They are even more solid at tight end with drafting Martellus Bennett who can open up the passing game a whole lot more for the Cowboys. I know I know everyone is going to be telling me I'm crazy because these players are unproven rookies but with the way the Cowboys have been drafting lately, DeMarcus Ware, Marion Barber, Nick Folk, Marcus Spears, Terence Newman, Jason Witten, it just goes to show you how Jerry Jones is a players owner and wants to win in the baddest of ways and I do believe that he will get the job done on a trade for a receiver to compliment T.O. Wanted to thank you on reading my first ever article on bleacher report and it will be the first of many to come!
