Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value ๐
He tried to prevent injury by putting his arm out and protecting his body from damage, but instead landed awkwardly breaking it in almost the same place he broke his arm LAST time.
Carolina Panthers fans must have been feeling happier about a few of the offseason moves, but this is really something that will bring some heartbreak. Steve Smith has been a fantastic player over his career and is known as one of the toughest players around.
He is also commonly regarded as being among the greatest short players in NFL history. He is 5'9" and has still managed to succeed in the NFL due largely to his quickness and overall speed. He has had sure hands through almost his entire career and is still among the best playing today.
His toughness is evidenced by a touchdown he had against the Giants near the end of the 2009 season. He had caught a ball near the end zone and survived a vicious hit by Safety Michael Johnson. He proceeded to take it the remaining few yards for the touchdown (while being tackled by yet another man). That shows his great toughness.
Smith was expected to have a very good 2010 season, but this recent injury may keep him out of training camp. I can tell you one thing, if I broke my arm, I'd be out for quite some time!
Luckily for Steve, he has already had surgery to repair the damage and has had a plate inserted into it to help reinforce the arm.
Let's all hope that he recovers soon and is ready to get back in and play as soon as possible.
