According to a recently released video by TMZ.com, Dave Batista, the former WWE star, is to sign and fight for the Strikeforce promotion.
Check out the video below to see what he said to the news-based website recently.
This will, of course, pose a lot of interesting questions for fight fans in the coming weeks.
Who will his first opponent be?
Could fellow former WWE star Bobby Lashley wait in the wings for what would be a huge fight for Strikeforce and MMA.
Comparisons with Brock Lesnar have followed Batista around throughout his WWE career, but despite his size he doesn't have the athleticism or true wrestling pedigree of Lesnar.
The 41-year-old recently left the WWE after a contract dispute and had expressed interest in acting but it appears the MMA bug and the thought of real fighting has bitten another sports entertainer.
Whatever happens this is some much needed positive buzz for Strikeforce and if he does fight in the promotion it will likely have good numbers for his debut mma fight.
Batista hinted to the reporter that he already knew his opponent, but he would not be telling TMZ.
A source close to Strikeforce has just revealed the following to Bleacher Report:
"The report is not correct. Batista is not signed"
This, however, doesn't mean that Batista may not have a future in MMA, only that the initial rumors circulating from this video footage may need to be reigned in a bit.
Much like Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar's entry into mma I doubt that this is a story that is going to drop from the frontpage anytime soon.
Whatever goes down, B/R will keep you posted on this developing story.
So, what are your thoughts on this folks?
