FIFA World Cup 2010: Could England's Loss Be Liverpool's Gain?
To begin, let me slightly digress from the topic. Another World Cup, another hype, and another on-going debacle. After two very ordinary performances in their Group, the England Football team is facing another test of time. It's a do-or-die situation and thus the stakes are high. With all eyes on the final group encounter, it's high time that Fabio Capello's England team does something better than what they manged thus far and at least move into the pre-quarters.
With Slovenia as opponents, the task doesn't seem very easy for the English as the Slovenians have been resolute in their performances thus far. However, Slovenia is still far from an established squad at the world stage, and England should still be favorites moving into this match.

NFL coach calls CFB transfer players 'clowns'

Soto Hasn't Talked to Team 😶
Now, coming back to the subject matter of this article. It is a well known fact now that Fabio Capello is under mounting pressure given the aforementioned scenario, and with talks of John Terry and Co. not impressed by his tactics, it could mean that the English are not all that united.
Therefore, regardless of their performance in the World Cup, which at the moment doesn't seem to be headed in a particularly glorious direction, Fabio Capello has every reason to believe that his coveted job is in danger.
Honestly, if England doesn't manage something very inspirational, like what Zidane and Co. managed last time for the French despite an equally distasteful start, Capello deserves to be fired. Speculation indicates that Roy Hodgson has been given serious consideration to be the successor of the "world's most expensive manager."
Hodgson's open admission to the fact that he would be interested in such an offer makes the possibility all the more probable.
Now that makes for an interesting proposition in context of Liverpool FC.
Liverpool FC's coach hunt spearheaded by Christian Purslow, still considers Roy Hodgson as their number one choice. With Hodgson making way for England National side, or at least in two minds if the offer is considered a possibility soon enough, Purslow would be forced to look elsewhere.
The Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish is also in the hunt along with Purslow to find Liverpool FC a new manager. After he was reportedly disapproved of taking over the position himself, the ex-Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini became his supposed choice. In Hodgson's inability to take the post, Pellegrini would be a prime candidate. This could be a blessing in disguise for Liverpool FC.
The 56-year-old Chilean has been very impressive in his stint at Villarreal which coincidentally began after the departure of the ex-Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez from Valencia.
Villarreal was never considered a really big club at La Liga, which has been ruled by Barcelona and Real Madrid for a long time now. However after Pellegrini took over, they managed to finish as high as second in the La Liga. This is certainly an achievement to be of which to be proud.
After his impressive stint at the club, where he had to operate under limited budget despite having more victories over the Catalan giants than defeats, he moved on to Real Madrid.
At Real Madrid, he managed a whopping 96 points with the team, a record points tally for the club. His attacking style of play also meant that the team managed about 100 goals in that endeavour.
While Madrid's elected board seems to be more interested in lavish spending, Pellegrini's market skills were untested like his predecessors. Real Madrid was however very keen on sacking him because of his failure in the Champions League, where last season's Top Scorer for Real, Gonzalo Higuain, missed sitters.
Now jobless and a second choice to Liverpool after Roy Hodgson, Manuel Pellegrini could be sure of a concrete offer from the club if England's misery continues. Liverpool FC could thus very well benefit, at least on the manager frontier, by having a manger that recently managed a top class club.
