MLB Daily Wrap Up - July 24

Moving Today's Market

The Brewers look to extend their winning streak to eight games and sweep a four-game series in St. Louis for the first time in franchise history. Milwaukee is the only NL team without a loss in the second half of the season.

Ben Sheets (10-3, 2.88 ERA) gets the opportunity to end the road trip undefeated. Sheets is 6-1 with a 2.84 ERA in 12 road starts this season, but is 5-14 with a 4.28 ERA in his career against the Cardinals.

Todd Wellemeyer (8-4, 4.22 ERA) will start for Cardinals but he has struggled this month, going 1-3 with a 7.55 ERA. His only career start against the Brewers came on May 9 when he allowed two unearned runs and six hits over six innings.

The percentage of money bet on the money line is slightly in favor of the Brewers, but CRIS opened at -145 for the Brewers but has since decreased to -128. There was a Steam Move triggered at Pinnacle on the Cardinals at +118.

A team that is surprisingly still in the playoff hunt visits Wrigley Field as the Marlins and Cubs open a four-game series. The Marlins are only a game and a half behind NL East leader New York, and take on a team they have dominated the last two seasons.

They have won 10 straight games against the Cubs, and they send Scott Olsen to the mound. Olsen is 2-0 with a 4.78 ERA in his last five starts. Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla and shortstop Hanley Ramirez are slumping since the break, going a combined 3-for-43.

The Cubs return home where they are an NL-best 37-12, and start their ace Carlos Zambrano. Zambrano is 5-0 with a 2.25 ERA at home this season. Over 85 percent of money being put on the money line is for the Cubs and over 95 percent is with the spread. The majority of the lines covered by Sports Insights has the Cubs over -200.
