The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series is in Englishtown, New Jersey for the 41st Annual Lucas Oil Deep Clean Supernationals from Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. Eliminations got under way on Sunday under Sunny to overcast skies with a hazy, hot and humid day in Englishtown. Rain moved in just before the final rounds were to take place on Sunday forcing the NHRA to delay the event until Monday morning to finish the event. None of the Top Fuel dragsters could really get a hand on the track Sunday during round one but would eventually get going down the track later in the day.
Larry Dixon in the Al Anabi Racing dragster has made his way to the final round on Monday up against Antron Brown in the Matco Tools dragster. Dixon is looking for another Englishtown win and Brown just wants to get a win after several disappointments in 2010.
Bob Tasca has the FordParts.com Ford Mustang in the Funny Car final up against another Al Anabi Racing car of Del Worsham. Tasca will have lane choice over Worsham and Tasca did win at Englishtown in the Sportsman class in 2007.
Mike Edwards once again made his way from #1 qualifer to the final round on Sunday, he will be up against rookie Shane Gray when finals resume on Monday. Edwards will now be in his 49th NHRA National Event Final Round Monday and Shane Gray is looking for his first victory can he take down the powerhouse team of Mike Edwards.
Michael Phillips was #1 qualifer and will face Steve Johnson in Pro Stock Motorcycle in the final Monday from Englishtown. Phillips will attempt to take the Racers Edge Suzuki to victory or will Steve Johnson score a win for his Suzuki at Raceway Park. Johnson lost to LE Tonglet last week in Chicago.
The NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series will head to Bristol next week for the E3 Spark Plugs ThunderValley Nationals then off to Norwalk, Ohio and to the Western Swing after that.
