Brazil
Brazil is considered a top favorite to win the 2010 World Cup. They hold a FIFA rank of 1 st in the world, and they are the only team that appeared in the World Cup finals after producing world-class players. They also have won five World Cup titles. One player to look out for is Luis Fabiano, a top goal scorer, who has scored 25 goals in 36 matches. Brazil will put up a good fight against all teams.
Portugal
Portugal currently has a FIFA rank of 3 rd in the world. Although they have made four World Cup appearances, they have yet to win a World Cup, so this year they are stepping it up in the hopes of securing their first World Cup victory. Christiano Ronaldo will be one of their most important players during the entire tournament, and he will do whatever he can to make sure his team reaches that number one position.
Italy
Being the 2006 World Cup champions, Italy may use their experience to beat out many of the teams they go up against in the 2010 World Cup. They hold a FIFA rank of 5 th in the world, and have won four World Cup titles, only one less than Brazil, making them tough contenders. With players like Lippi, Buffon, and Rossi, Italy has a great chance of taking the title again.
Spain
Spain currently holds a FIFA rank of 2 nd in the world. They are ready to dominate after appearing in 12 World Cup tournaments with a best-ever finish of 4 th place. With stars like Ramus and Alonso, Spain is ready to use their experience to take the number 1 spot.
Germany
With a FIFA rank of 6 th in the world and not having missed a final since 1950, Germany certainly shows their contenders the competitiveness within their team. Having secured 3 World Cup titles, Germany hopes to increase that number by 1 and tie up their number of titles with Italy.
All of these teams will be great contenders in the 2010 World Cup .
