Ladies, Start your engines! and Pass me my lipstick!

Okay Guys get over it! There are women race car drivers.

I am so sick of seeing and hearing comments by men about the addition of female race car drivers. This week I overheard a conversation about some newer female drivers, and how the "boys" could not race the "girls" hard because it would be like hitting a girl.

Do you really think these drivers got to the upper levels of racing by using their womaness to get there? No. It doesn't matter if you are the world's most amazing beauty, if you can't drive, you won't make it. 

Also, I can guarantee that the "girls" did not have an easy trip to this level of competition. There was not one instance when a fellow driver pulled over and just let them go.

These ladies have decided to follow their dreams to be a racer, and I bet that a man (probably their fathers) at some point told them they could do or be anything that they wished to be. Hmm...I even think my Dad once told me that very same thing.

I honestly think that if you are a true driver, when you are racing and you come up on a fellow competitor, you don't stop to think about the sex of the person in the car you are racing for position. You may however, think about the level of experience that driver might have, and that's okay.

I think men who have a problem with female drivers, should stop and look at their own relatives, and ask themselves "If my daughter (sister, niece, granddaughter, etc) came to me and asked if it were possible for her to become a driver, what would I tell her?"

Are you going to tell her it's too hard? Are you going to tell her that it's a sport only for men? Or are you going to tell her that she can be anything she wants if she puts her mind to it?

So guys, get in, sit down, buckle up, and and hand me my lipstick.
