Fresh off of losing to UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Demian Maia confirmed early Saturday morning that he will be facing Alan Belcher in his next bout.

“Confirmando: UFC Fight Night 22, em 15 Set contra Alan Belcher,” Maia tweeted .

You don’t have to speak Portuguese to understand that Maia confirmed he will be fighting at Ultimate Fight Night 22 on September 15 against Alan Belcher.

The possibility of a bout with Belcher was first reported by Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting and wasn’t officially confirmed until Maia himself did so via Twitter.

In case you don’t recall, Maia was Anderson Silva’s opponent at UFC 112 as Silva coasted to another unanimous decision victory which prompted Dana White to get up and leave during the fourth round.

Belcher is coming off of an impressive win at UFC 113 over Patrick Cote in front of his home crowd in Montreal as he submitted the former No. 1 contender.

With a win over Maia, Belcher could catapult himself into the title discussion.
