More than 50 years after the inaugural College World Series, the 2010 edition of the annual event, like the Belmont betting , is just around the corner, with this year’s installment scheduled to open midway through the month of June.

First played in Kalamazoo, Michigan, all the way back in 1947, the College World Series moved to Omaha, Nebraska in 1950, and has remained in that city every year since. This year, the NCAA Division One Championship will be as highly anticipated as it has ever been, an illustration of how far the tournament has come since it actually lost money in 10 of its first 12 years, as Texas will look to extend its record for most College World Series wins, with 82 in total heading in to this year.

Texas actually climbed the official NCAA Mens Baseball rankings in their latest update, moving up from the sixth spot in to the top-five, at number four. The only team currently ranked in the top-15 after the most recent update, Texas is 46-8 this season, including the most home wins in Division One with 31 in 35 games.

The Longhorns will not be satisfied with their season unless they can get back to the title game and win it all in 2010, just one year after falling to Jared Mitchell and LSU in last year’s College World Series finals. The last time Texas won the tournament was in 2005, which was just one year after falling to Cal State Fullerton in the finals in 2004. Longhorns’ fans and players are hoping that history is on their side again this year, as they gear up for another long run through the middle of the summer.

One year after they won the title, LSU has struggled this season, both in baseball and NCAA football betting as can often happen after a college team makes it over the hump and wins the big game.

Currently ranked outside the top-30, LSU has struggled to a record of just 36-20, including a miserable 4-12 mark on the road. Turnover has played a significant role in the team’s regression since last year, but the Tigers still feel that they are not far from making it back to the championship series, even though it may not necessarily happen this year.

One team that is sure to compete for the College World Series title this year is Arizona State. With a 45-7 record, Arizona State has been at the top of the standings for consecutive updates, and rightfully so. With a home mark of 30-3, the Sun Devils are threatening to return to the online sports betting series for the first time since falling to USC all the way back in 1998, one of the higher scoring games ever.

Virginia, Coastal Carolina, and Florida round out the top-five in the rankings as of this past Sunday, with the Pacific-10 being the only division that is represented by two teams in the top-10, with the UCLA Golden Bears joining the Sun Devils at the top of the College World Series betting .
