Helio Castroneves was fastest at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Friday in Fast Friday practice. Castroneves topped last weekend's opening practice sessions and was fastest on Friday with a lap at 39.72 at 226.558 mph in his #3 Penske car on Fast Friday. Castroneves is going for four wins at the Indy 500 and is looking for back to back wins again this year after doing so in 2001 and 2002.
Will Power had his #12 Penske car in second on Friday and comes into Indy as the points leader after having a dominant start to 2010. Alex Tagliani has been fast all week and was third Friday. Scott Dixon a former winner was fourth with Mario Moraes in fifth.
Pole day for the Indianapolis 500 will be Saturday starting at 11am ET on Versus with the Peak Pole award up for grabs for the Indianapolis 500 and $175,000 in cash, and 15 series points in the Championship Standings.
The field of 24 drivers will be set tomorrow and qualifying will run from 11am-4pm then a break. From 4:30pm till 6pm the top 9 drivers will run for pole, cash and the bonus points. Drivers will need to be in the top 9 at the cutoff to advance and run for the pole.
