Anderson Silva: Truly the Best Pound-for-Pound Fighter Today
Shooto Middleweight championship in 2001, current Cage Rage Middleweight champion, current UFC Middleweight champion, Brazilian Muay Thai champion and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt—Anderson Silva is truly one of the best fighters to step in a cage.
With 19 fights under his belt before getting into the UFC, Silva was an experienced and dangerous fighter who had victories over top fighters like Roan Carneiro, Carlos Newton, Jeremy Horn, and Jorge Rivera.
"The Spider" made his UFC debut on June 28, 2006, against a dangerous striker in Chris Leben. That night, Silva proved to be the dangerous striker when he TKO'd him in the first round. After Silva defeated Rich Franklin for the UFC Middleweight championship, the rest was history.

He defeated Travis Lutter, a guy who won The Ultimate Fighter 4 to get this title shot; and Nate Marquardt, a great fighter who Anderson Silva dominated and TKO'd in round 1.
Silva dominated Franklin in the rematch and then Dan Henderson. What I'm trying to say here is every fighter Anderson Silva has fought in the UFC are all great fighters, and he made them all look like amateurs.
I am really starting to wonder if this guy is human? In his last fight against James Irvin, okay maybe Irvin was not the best fighter Anderson fought but he was probably the most dangerous because he had the ability to KO Silva with a single punch at any moment in the fight.
"The Spider" went out there and KO'd Irvin in one minute.
For the people who doubt Anderson Silva and say that Fedor or GSP is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today, you don't know what you're talking about.
He has dominated EVERY top fighter in his division, not even breaking a sweat.
Another thing that makes me laugh my ass off is how Patrick Côté says he's gonna KO Silva if they ever fight. Patrick is a good striker, but he probably cannot outstrike Anderson Silva and would get killed on the ground.
Still, Côté looks so confident, he either has a diabolical plan or he's crazy. Of course, Patrick has the striker's chance of catching Silva with a punch, but it's the ONLY way Silva could lose to the "Predator."
Does Anderson Silva deserve the title of the greatest fighter in the world...no doubt. He truly is the best and even when he finally gets beat, one loss is nothing and he will still be the best, period. He will hopefully continue kicking ass and keeping his Middleweight title around his waist.
Anderson "The Spider" Silva simply the BEST!
