The question that all wrestling fans are wondering is whether or not the WWE has done a injustice to the U.S. championship?

Throughout wrestling history the title belts have always been what the entire show is based on. Why would these men wrestle if not for the opportunity to be called champions? The sad reality of it is that now a days the wrestling titles have been devalued in that they are no longer the most prominent part of the show. I hate to say this as someone that loves Bret "the hitman" Hart but I do not believe that he should be holding a title at this point in his life.

I understand that ultimately it does not change much but I believe that any champion should be able to physically defend his title. Although the Bret Hart storyline is unique to the business I just cannot accept that the WWE would put one of its titles on him. Their are countless superstars including members of the Hart Dynasty that could be better served by winning the title. I want to see Bret get the respect he deserves in Canada but this is not how I wanted to see it.

The Mizz has done a good job of getting the WWE to push his character and I feel that this loss has the potential to set him way off course. I get that the way in which the match was booked portrays the Miz as not been fairly beaten but it still devalues the character to some extent. How can I take the Miz seriously if he lost to Bret Hart when he has not wrestled in years.

So did Bret Hart winning hurt the company?

I believe that by hurting the character of the Miz at this point in his career does hurt the overall product. I also believe that by having Bret being a champion in a company that is geared to the PG audiance does nothing to enhance the product. I care about Bret and a lot of fans do also but the target audiance has more than likely never seen his work. Bret is great and deserves to be remembered but the two matches he has been in have been a mockery to the wrestling industry.

WWE can still fix the situation but they need to handle it correctly. If Bret just hands the title away it would be a joke. Hart needs to hold a tournament and help elevate the Miz at the same time. I do not believe that Hart did anything with bad intentions but being such a traditionalist he needs to see this as a opportunity to put the new guys over. I have faith that Bret will do the right thing but having said that I do not believe he should have won the title.
