College Football: The Off Season Drought
I have college football on the brain. Do you have it as bad as I do? Here's what I go through during the drought period:
1. Realizing the bowl season is over and you wanna cry.
2. Seriously wanting to write to Congress in making National Signing Day a national holiday.
3. Marking the calendar for the spring game.
4. Checking your school's athletic website, your local paper, blogs, etc. for any information on the spring practices.
5. Keep asking your friends if it is football season yet.
6. Finding any college football re-runs to watch on TV, knowing who won those college football re-runs, and whether or not you want to watch it if it involves your team.
7. Making trips to town to see the stadium or field and bask in her glory.
8. Reading every little report about college football that comes out on the web.
9. Knowing the season is getting close when the local papers start printing football stories every day.
10. If in possession of bragging rights, using them at every opportunity.
11. Waiting for NCAA Football to arrive to engulf yourself in the experience, if only for a little while
12. Complaining about how NCAA Football doesn't get exactly EVERYTHING right about your stadium, whether it be seating fans, not playing the right songs, etc.
13. Tuning your voice for optimum yelling and screaming for the game.
14. Playing your team's fight song every chance you get.
15. Snatching every pre-season magazine you can get your hands on.
16. Running through every possible scenario on how your team will do this season.
17. Marking down Fan Day (if applicable to your team).
18. Hunting the first pre-season polls down like a rabid dog.
19. Counting down the days til start of practice.
20. And finally, counting down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds til kickoff of the first game.
These are just some of the things I do during the drought. I encourage those who read this to comment on some of the things they do during the drought.
