While everyone is doing predictions over The Great American Bash, I'm just following suit and giving previews of tonight's unprecedented pay per view. Many call it the most predictable pay-per-view of the year...but there are outside sources that will tell you otherwise.
With that said, here's the rundown of tonight's Great American Bash!
United States Championship
Matt Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin
As reported yesterday on the Bleacher Report, Matt Hardy will defend the US Championship against the man who beat him two weeks ago in a non-title match: Shelton Benjamin.
Since acquiring his new persona as The Gold Standard, Benjamin has been almost unstoppable. After coming up short in the Fatal Fourth Match, Benjamin is now determined to bring some gold back to SmackDown!
On the other side of the ring is the man who has been on a serious roll since beating MVP for the gold at Backlash. Matt Hardy got drafted to ECW and took the United States Championship with him.
In a strange twist, Hardy has several contenders for the championship, but Benjamin has to be his biggest challenge to date.
WWE Divas Championship
Natalya vs. Michelle McCool
The fiery Canadian redhead has been on a mission to get gold around her pretty little waist since earning her spot in the first ever Divas Championship match. After several weeks of uncertainty, she now has a time and a place where her hard work will pay off.
But her opponent won't be the only one she's trying to impress. There is also the matter of the war between her and RAW's Beth Phoenix.
Michelle is one of the Divas that has been with SmackDown! her entire career. Now she has a chance to win her first championship in the WWE when she faces her rival tonight for the Divas Championship.
And considering the mood that SmackDown!'s GM will most likely be in tonight, it's better to try to win it tonight and get out of Dodge before she changes the rules again.
In this match, there will be the spectre of Beth Phoenix, and the two will most likely lock horns before this is all said and done.
Fatal Four Way for the WWE Tag Team Championships
Ever since winning the gold last November from Matt Hardy and MVP, Miz and John Morrison have done anything and everything to keep the gold in the Palace of Wisdom. Tonight, that might not be enough.
The Champions have not one, not two, but three teams gunning for their tag team titles tonight. From ECW, they have the tag team they haven't been able to shake off since Night of Champions, Finswoggle.
From SmackDown!, they got a pair of tag teams grabbing their first legitimate shots at tag team gold: Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder of La Familia and Jesse & Festus of Biscuits and Gravy Express.
With three teams gunning for the gold currently held by ECW's Dirt Sheet, the boys from SmackDown! wouldn't mind bringing the titles back home to a detested GM.
As for Finlay and Hornswoggle, they came close last time. They don't want to come close again.
Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho

Hmm well tonight proved that CM Punk is indeed a fluke. He can't hold his own against larger competitors unless someone else intervenes. I think the crowd reaction proved that CM is loosing his fanbase and pretty quickly.
