Alistair Overeem Questions Fedor Emelianenko's Manhoood

After collecting his eighth consecutive win Saturday night at “Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery,” champion Alistair Overeem reiterated his undying desire to face Fedor Emelianenko .

This time, the Dutchman took a personal dig at the Russian by indirectly challenging his manhood.

“It’s been awhile, but I am back,” Overeem stated after his 1stRound TKO of Brett Rogers. “I’m the champion of Strikeforce and I ain’t going nowhere. I am here to stay!”

Much has been made of Overeem’s immediate exit from the U.S. after capturing Strikeforce’s heavyweight title back in November 2007. Not only had he not been back to defend his crown, but he ballooned into The Incredible Hulk during his absence.

His overly-chiseled physique has many, ahem Team Fedor , questioning the legitimacy behind achieving that kind of natural growth in such a short period of time.

“I was in the best shape of my life and I think this fight proved it,” Overeem matter-of-factly stated. “I wanted to finish him, like I always do in all my fights. I am happy; I proved myself right here.”

When CBS/Showtime commentator Gus Johnson asked who he would prefer to make his next title defense against, guess which heavyweight “The Demolition Man” had on his mind?

“Fedor,” Overeem emphatically stated. “His management declined for him to fight me tonight. Respect for Brett, because he stood up and he wanted to fight me like a man.

“I think now it’s Fedor’s time.”

Those are some pretty bold statements for Overeem to make, especially when you take into account Emelianenko holds a dominant 31-1 professional record and has been perfect through his last 27 scraps. However, he made them (once again) and he isn’t backing down.

Emelianenko will headline Strikeforce’s June 26 event against Fabricio Werdum. It has been heavily rumored that if he is able to leave the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., victorious and unscathed, Overeem and Fedor could star in the organization’s first pay-per-view broadcast later this year.

FYI, the results for the internal pre-fight drug screening Strikeforce required each “Heavy Artillery” athlete to submit, including Overeem, will be made available in a couple of weeks.
