Johnny Benson and Toyota dominated yet again in the Craftsman Truck Series race at Kentucky Speedway.

In a hard-fought battle with his teammate Michael Annett, Benson raced lap after lap, finally extending his lead and finishing well in front of his much younger rival.

Not only was this a victory for Benson, but also for Toyota. The manufacturer captured the majority of top 10 spots in the race.

Bill Davis Racing also prevailed as Benson’s owners. The win catapults them into first place, one point ahead of Matt Crafton.

Benson, his glasses covered with victory champagne and Gatorade, was modest about his win.  When you get to be his age and run as many races as he has, you definitely learn all about humility.

His long burnout after the race and his waving of the Sunoco winner’s flag around the track did all the talking for this champion.

While Benson’s win proved to be the big story, the story that was supposed to be about Kyle Busch never materialized.  Busch was trying to win three consecutive races in three touring series.

However, he attempted to pit early and then got trapped on a caution when Chrissy Wallace wrecked, ending his chances for a victory.  He did battle back twice, but he still finished in the sixth position.

Another big story was the debut of Randy Moss’ new team. His driver, Willie Allen, ended up in the 15th spot, a great finish for the brand new racing group.  While the No. 81 team has a challenging road ahead, this respectable finish positions them well for the rest of the truck racing season.

But in the end, the Built Ford Tough 225 was all about Toyota and Benson power, leaving us all anticipating the next big race!
