Moving Today's Market

We hope you're enjoying the new layout at Sports Insights. It's good to be back, especially with a full slate of MLB games. We see some great pitchers taking the mound in the first full day of action since an extended version of the All-Star game. The Braves send ace Tim Hudson (9-7, 3.13 ERA) to the mound against the Nationals and Tim Redding (7-3, 3.85). This match up is drawing quite a bit of early interest, with the money and bets solidly behind Atlanta, who opened at -176 and are currently at -210 (Pinnacle). The Angels start John Lackey (6-2, 2.46) against the potent Red Sox offense and Clay Buchholz (2-4, 5.70). Lackey hasn't fared well against Boston in his career, compiling one win and a 6.27 ERA in 11 starts. James Shields (7-6, 3.83) gets the call for Tampa Bay against Toronto and AJ Burnett (10-8, 4.96). The bets and money have pushed the Rays from an opening of -139 to -156 at Pinnacle. The Yankees are drawing a surprisingly low amount of early interest with reliable starter Mike Mussina (11-6, 3.61) toeing the rubber against the Athletics. Mussina has provided a 2.77 ERA in his previous eight starts, but early money is backing Oakland and Greg Smith (5-7, 3.43). Also taking the mound tonight are Seattle's Felix Hernandez (6-6, 2.95) and Milwaukee's CC Sabathia (8-8, 3.67).

Key Injury Updates

Bobby Jenks CHI (RP) Back Probable He is expected to be activated before Friday's game, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Kevin Youkilis BOS (1B) Triceps Probable He is dealing with a bruised left triceps.
Yunel Escobar ATL (SS) Shoulder Doubtful His shoulder was too sore to take batting practice on Thursday, and is likely out for Friday.
Chone Figgins LAA (3B) Personal Probable He was activated from the bereavement list on Wednesday, and should be in the starting lineup on Friday.

Key Market Moves

A couple of teams have received a trio of alerts heading into tonight's action. The Athletics received a Steam Move alert to go along with a pair of Smart Money alerts against the Yankees. Two of the alerts were triggered by books with positive results won, while the third came from Pinnacle with results of -0.15 units. Meanwhile the Padres were also triggered for two Smart Money bets and a Steam Move. All three were triggered by books with positive results, but the one from Bet Jamaica has only +0.38 units won on the season.
