In the 2008-09 season it looked like the Rangers had something special.  A young star looked to be in the making on Broadway.

Right Wing, Nikolai Zherdev was one of the team's leading scorers.  The kid was talented, there was no doubt about that.  But, the ownership didn't like Zherdev's inconsistency.

One night he was great and the other he simply wasn't.  The Rangers were put into a tough situation.  To keep Nikolai, or not to?

Fans were also split on the decision.  Zherdev was looking for a decent amount of money nand the Rangers didn't want to give it to him.

He and the Rangers couldn't come to an agreement.  Zherdev was forgotten and he spent the 2009-10 season  at home.

A once promising young player saw his career take a turn for the worst.  Now, he has a chance to revive his career.  He is a free agent, and some teams are looking into him.

The Rangers are reportedly one of those teams that have interest in Zherdev.  I think that it would be a great idea for the Rangers to bring Nikolai Zherdev back.

This kid has the talent to be a dynamic player in the NHL.  I think that there is more than one reason for the Rangers to bring this guy back.  Here are a few reasons:

1.  Nikolai is a fantastic scorer.  He has the ability to get close to the net, and cash in.

2.  I believe that he is better than the Rangers current right winger.

3.  He has an amazing amount of potential.

I believe that if the Rangers and Zherdev can come up with a reasonable contract then this will be a great move for the Rangers.  The Rangers are looking for upgrades, and Zherdev has the potential to be the upgrade.  The only question  is if Zherdev can transform his potential into ability.  We will see, and hopefully we will see it unfold with Zherdev wearing a Rangers jersey.
