(Please note that I presume in this article that the news of TNA moving iMPACT! to Thursday's is true)
It has been reported by writers such as Joe Burgett that TNA will be moving their weekly show, iMPACT! back to its timeslot on Thursday nights. Now, I don't normally pay much attention to rumours, but it is very rare that Joe's sources mislead him.(He was right about Hardy signing with TNA)
The way I look at it, this is TNA losing the first round of The Monday Night Wars II to WWE and Vince McMahon in the short term only. You see, hindsight is a wonderful thing. TNA thought they were ready to take down Raw, but they weren't. I know it's easy to say that now but come on, it's been easy to say since April.
Then I began to wonder, have Hogan, Bischoff and co. showed that they have got the best interests of TNA at heart? I think so.
You see, TNA going back to Thursday nights is the best possible thing for the company. With Raw having a star studded card after the draft and the return of Monday Night Football in the US, TNA would have pulled even weaker ratings than they have been recently.
However, this may be a blessing in disguise for TNA. This will inflate VKM's ego even more(if possible) and he will continue filling the Raw script with juvenile BS, and slowly but surely, TNA will pick up some WWE viewers. I said it in a previous article, the Monday Night Wars II proper won't begin until next year at the earliest.
However, I think that TNA have one the first round in the long term. They have decided to focus on their own product and leave WWE do what they want on Monday's. Hogan and TNA have put their ego's aside for the better of TNA. You may disagree with me completely and that is your opinion and you are entitled to that. So, all that is left is for yo to answer the question posed in the headline:
Who won the first round in the preliminary Monday Night Wars II? WWE or TNA?
I say WWE won it in the short term but TNA in the long term.
