It’s official folks, the long awaited return of Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko was confirmed this morning by Strikeforce officials.

Emelianenko (31-1) will be competing in a non-title fight against former Pride and UFC veteran Fabricio Werdum (13-4-1) on June 26th , at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. The main card will air live on Showtime in a co-promotion between Strikeforce and M1-Global.

The confirmation of this bout comes after months of negotiations between Strikeforce and M-1 Global after M1-Global was unsatisfied with the terms of their contract following their last co-promotion with the San Jose based organization last November at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers at the Sears Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Fedor, who is considered by many to be the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport, is currently riding an impressive 28 fight win streak.

Werdum has won four of his last five bouts, and is currently riding a two fight win streak, both of which have come under the Strikeforce banner.

Strikeforce and M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Werdum will be Strikeforce’s first trip back to the HP Pavilion in San Jose since Strikeforce: Evolution last December which featured a main event about between middleweight fighters Cung Le and Scott Smith.

A rematch between Le and Smith has been heavily rumored to take place on the June 26th card as well.
