Granny's Thoughts on Mike Tyson
Grandma Dee used to have an Old English Bulldog. She had a very long registered name which included the title "baroness" so we called her "the Bear" for short. Like her owner, the Bear was very mild mannered and laid back; but this didn't mean anyone poking sticks at her or her loved ones couldn't rile her up.
Well, last week in Las Vegas at a pro boxing match between former MMA fighter Ricco Rodriguez and Chad Davis who at that time was (0-1), big Mike was in the crowd making loud and what Grandma considers "taunting" comments during the fight.

"Are you going to throw some punches or what?" and "Why don't you try to hurt each other?" asked Tyson from his seat in the crowd.
Rodriguez whose MMA record is (29-9) fought in one other match in 2006 and knocked out Brandon Baker. Last week he lost to Chad Davis after the fourth round, making Davis's record (1-1) now.
Most MMA fans are aware of Rodriguez accomplishments, like the 2002 UFC 39 fight where he beat Randy Couture for the Heavyweight championship. Ricco was quite the fighter in his day. Not everyone weathers aging as well as Couture has.
But should anyone have to endure ringside insults from former ear-chomper Mike Tyson, who has served more than one term locked up for his crimes against humanity? I think not.
While previously I thought it was ludicrous for MMA HW fighters to try to arrange a match with Mike, I now think it might have become necessary.
Where does this washed up "has been" of the boxing world get off casting stones, verbal though they be, at noted MMA fighters?
He needs an education that can only come from stepping in the octagon with a heavyweight fighter; and I would prefer that it be Brock Lesner rather than Kimbo Slice, although at this point, I am not going to be picky.
Hopefully someone out there with the power to arrange something like this will grab this ball and run with it.
I am not sure how long old granny's heart can take an insult like this.
