CC Sabathia Finishes Up a Strong April on a High Note
CC Sabathia pitched another gem yesterday as the Yankeesโ ace pitched into the eighth inning to beat the Orioles 8-3 yesterday.
After yesterdayโs game, CCโs April is over and heโs had one heck of a month. Overall he went 3-1 with a 3.12 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP in 34.2 innings. His only real bad start was opening day when the Red Sox tagged him for five runs in 5.1 innings. That day he wasnโt even that terrible, as he pitched well into the fifth inning before he ran out of gas.
His only loss of the month came against Oakland last week and even then he just had one rough inning as he tossed a complete game while allowing only three earned runs.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Sabathiaโs month is that he is a typical slow starter, as it usually takes him a little while to gain his control. His career numbers in April, including this year, are 15-13 with a 4.32 ERA.
This is a great start for Sabathia who so far should be considered an early candidate for the Cy Young. Although last yearโs winner and runner-up, Zack Greinke and Felix Hernandez respectively, are certainly going to give The Big Man a run for his money.
