Jose Mourinho King Supreme at Nou Camp, A Moment of Ecstasy
Jose Mourinho and his Inter team defended their way into the final after a nervy last 8 minutes. Inter were down to ten men after Tiago Motta was red carded for handling Busquets who made a meal of the foul.
Inter will face Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu in the final, but Mourinho will celebrate this victory into the night after many criticised his defensive abilities.
Inter completed the game with no shots on target, and played with eight men behind the ball through the game.
Stand out performances from Lucio, Samuel, Maicon, and Zennetti, who made sure every Barca attack was stopped at the defensive line. But due must be given to Eto'o and his attacking company who supported a total team effort.
Game stats prove Barcelona's ball possession with 76% and 555 completed passes, to Inter's 76 passes. Amazing as it is, Barca failed to make any headway into the Inter defense, and could not create any chances.
Mourinho came out tops after he proved that if you stop Messi, you stop Barcelona.
Not been bias or going against Barcelona or their style of playing, Barcelona's passing was brilliant, but Mourinho's tactics to defend for 90 minutes and be successful in doing so was even more brilliant.
The second the whistle was blown Jose celebrated like only Jose can celebrate, and enjoyed the moment as he stood with his hands raised to the Barca supporters, as if he was asking 'Now, who is the best?". That moment was brief, but an image that will remain in he sporting journal for ever.
Mourinho and company where given a short celebration after the "sprinkles" where switched on the pitch, which is seen as an insult to the sportsmanship shown by the hosts.
