The Lakers Are In Deep Trouble But Are They Done?

Mike JamesApr 26, 2010

This series with the Thunder and Lakers has taken on a totally different feel. I pick the Lakers to win this series in 7 and then lose in the second road to the Spurs. I am rethinking all of that because of how this series is unfolding.

Before Laker fans start talking about how the Lakers played against Houston last year I want to make something clear. The Rockets were who they were. Yes they played with heart and were over matched with talent so the Lakers won out in the end. The Thunder has just as much talent but in different places and they are younger and more athletic.

The worst thing for the Lakers was for OC to play them close in game two and for them to win game 4 like they won that game. All of the fear is gone from this young team and now watch what happens with Harden and Jeff Green in game 5. These guys are going to be the difference makers in this series.

Westbrook will continue to be unstoppable and may go for over 30 in game 5. I think the Lakers will keep Durant around the 25 point range but Westbrook, Green and Harden are going to do the major damage.

There is going to be so much pressure on Kobe in this game and I don't know if he is physically up to the challenge. The Thunder know they can put Durant on him in the 4th and limit his effectiveness. The cat is out of the bag and the Thunder is going to take this series in 6. It's almost unbelievable that this team would be able to pull this off.

LA will be shocked when they can't just run away with game 5 at home. If LA is not up by 12-15 points after the first quarter then OC will indeed win this series in 6.

The moment is no longer a factor for this team they are now playing with house money and the thing about this is they are not playing above their heads they are just playing at their max.

LA fans this is not going to be pretty and this current team will not bounce back from a first round exit. Phil may not come back if they are bounce by OC.
