Overview
After a great 2007 season that saw the Kentucky Wildcats upset the eventual National Champions, Coach Rich Brooks and Kentucky will have some work to do in 2008.
Senior quarterback Andre Woodson is now in the NFL along with 2007 defensive leader Wesley Woodyard. The Wildcats will need plenty of new players to step up in 2008 if they want to go bowling for the third consecutive year.
The good news for Wildcat fans is that some talented players are returning from last year’s squad, including Derrick Locke and Dicky Lyons Jr. on offense. These two should help to ensure that whoever steps in at quarterback will have a good deal of help.
Locke has the speed and vision to be a great SEC running back and if Kentucky’s offensive line can give him some holes in the running game, he could carry Kentucky to the postseason.
Defensively, the Wildcats return All-SEC defensive end Jeremy Jarmon and a few other very talented players.
While Kentucky probably won’t have more conference wins than losses in 2008, they are a team very capable of causing some serious headaches for opposing coaches.
In any case, a return to the postseason should be considered a good season for the Wildcats in 2008.
