Overview
Widely considered the hottest team at the end of the 2007 season, the Georgia Bulldogs will enter the 2008 season as the preseason favorites to win the BCS National Championship.
Behind the powerful running of Heisman candidate Knowshon Moreno, the Bulldogs look to build on their success from the 2007 season. Coach Mark Richt will have his hands full keeping the Bulldogs focused with all the hype surrounding the program.
Georgia’s success in 2008 will depend largely upon the play of its offensive line. With Heisman candidates Moreno and quarterback Matthew Stafford in the backfield, it will be important for the offensive line to mature quickly. If they can, these two, along with a talented Georgia defense can carry the Bulldogs to BCS glory. If not, the Bulldogs will likely come up just short, similar to their 2007 season.
Another factor heavily weighing against Georgia’s chances of success is the Bulldogs’ schedule. Georgia will face what might be the toughest road in all of college football.
Should they succeed in making it through this gauntlet with no more than one loss, they are nearly guaranteed a trip to play in Miami for the 2008 National Championship. Perhaps never in Coach Mark Richt’s tenure have the expectations ever been this high.
