The Florida Gators will enter the 2008 football season with a wealth of expectations. Tim Tebow, 2007 Heisman winner, will be expected to improve on one of the most productive season in college football history.
The Gators defense is expected to improve from a unit that was anything but special in 2007. Finally, Gator fans are expecting another National Championship run.
The 2008 Gators offense should be one of the most prolific units in the entire nation next year. Tebow will lead an offense that arguably has the most talent nationally at the skill positions.
Percy Harvin, Chris Rainey, Deonte Thompson, Louis Murphy, Cornelius Ingram, and Emmanuel Moody are only a few of the many talented Gator players likely to torch opposing defenses for huge gains in 2008.
However, if Florida expects to compete for a National Championship, the defense will have to improve dramatically, particularly in the secondary.
Florida ranked dead last in the SEC against the pass last year. That type of play will keep them out of the National Championship hunt if it continues.
Florida’s hopes ride not only on the steady shoulders of Tim Tebow, but on every member of the Gator defense.
