2010 NFL Draft: Dallas Cowboys Select Dez Bryant, Give Offense Immediate Boost

With the Cowboys' first pick in the 2010 NFL Draft they chose Dez Bryant, wide receiver from Oklahoma State.

This move was huge for a team that is very close to being a Super Bowl team, a move that can make their offense the most dangerous in the NFL.

Following the breakout of Miles Austin, Dallas has possibly created one of the strongest receiving corps in the league.  Tony Romo now has two fast, strong receivers that have reliable hands.  With an already stacked backfield, the Cowboys have made a statement; if you want to beat us, you will have score a lot of points on our defense.

This is similar to the style of play that both of the Super Bowl teams from last year take to.  Dallas has a defense that can hold opponents.  If the offense can become one of the highest scoring in the league (which Dez Bryant gives them the potential to become) then they could be a real problem for others in the NFC throughout the season and the playoffs.

Jerry Jones is committed to giving Tony Romo the weapons to win a championship.  Romo bumped up his yards and cut down his picks last year.  Now he has the tools to score more touchdowns as well.  Tony Romo is ready to be a top-tier, Pro Bowl quarterback next season.

The Cowboys gave up a lot for Roy Williams and he has not panned out at all. This makes up for it.  Williams is now expendable.  If Dallas can trade him and get any value in the final two days of the draft, then they could make more impact (possibly by trading Williams for a pick that they turn into Jordan Shipley).

Dallas has taken care of one of their biggest needs in the draft. Friday and Saturday the team will focus on filling their holes on the offensive line and in the defensive secondary. If the team can accomplish this in the next two day then they will be one of the favorites to make a run at the biggest stage in football, the Super Bowl.
