Today's Line-ups Yankees vs A's (04/22/10)

Brian CapozziContributor IApril 22, 2010

What can we Yankee faithfuls say about Hughes start last night, except for BRILLIANT!!! Phil Hughes had the best outing of  his career last night. Hughes had 10 K’s and 1 hit thru 7 1/3 innings. The only hit he gave up was to Eric Chavez, who hit a liner back to Hughes, breaking up the no-hitter in bottom of the 8th. The last time Hughes had such an outing was back in May of 2007 when he was also pitching a no-no against the Texas Rangers, taking him into the 7th inning when the unthinkable happened… a hamstring injury.

Also, Yankees skipper Joe Girardi announced yesterday that Joba Chamberlain will be the 8th inning man, setting up for Mariano Rivera.

New York Yankees: (11-3)

Derek Jeter SS
Nick Johnson 1B
Mark Teixeira DH
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Marcus Thames LF
Francisco Cervelli C
Brett Gardner CF

Pitching Match-up:
Yankees LHP: CC Sabathia (2-0, 2.84)
Oakland A’s: LHP Dallas Braden (2-0, 2.70)

Important note: Francisco Cervelli is catching for C.C. again for the 3rd straight start. Looks like Cervelli is C.C”s  ”personal” catcher!!!
