2010 NFL Mock Draft: Final Version

Will OsgoodApr 21, 2010
1. St. Louis—Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
I don't agree with this selection, but it seems inevitable. To me Bradford is a late second, or early third round pick.

2. Detroit—Ndamakung Suh, DT, Nebraska
By far the best player in the draft. If St. Louis had a brain, this guy would be the selection.

3. Tampa Bay—Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
Much like Bradford is way overrated, he is a first rounder, but not a top-three.

4. Washington—Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State
This pick makes sense. DC needs a guy to protect McNabb. Okung is a guy who will do that admirably for the next 10 years (who knows who will be the new QB at that point?).

5. Kansas City—Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
I like Berry, but not enough to select him here. That being said, it's starting to seem inevitable. I think KC would be better off with an OT here though.

6. Washington—Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma
They have a myriad of options and really can't go wrong with a lot of guys, given they have a lot of holes. A good LT, though, can help right away.

7. Cleveland—Joe Haden, CB, Florida
Maybe the most talented player (not best player) in the entire draft. Because he plays corner and has some technique issues, he falls to seven. Should be a tremendous pro.

8. Oakland—Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland
It's Oakland, of course they're going to do something like this.

9. Buffalo—Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa
Buffalo has to have an OT to protect Tim Tebow, who they'll get in the early second round.

10. Jacksonville—Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
He could go higher, but in my opinion he is the second best DE, but I don't mind him going at 10. He fits Jacksonville well.

11. Denver—Earl Thomas, S, Texas
May not actually fit Denver's size requirements, but too good a player to pass up if he slips this far. He might be the second most talented player in the entire draft after Haden.

12. Miami—Brandon Graham, DE/OLB, Michigan
Best DE in 2010 draft, he can do it all—high motor, good vs. the run, and gifted pass rusher with tools to get better.

13. San Francisco—Sergio Kindle, DE/OLB, Texas
Third best pass rusher in the draft. Explosive. Second best player on the second best team in college football a season ago.

14. Seattle—Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
To me, this guy should be the No. 1 pick, based on the premise that QBs should be the No. 1 pick even if they're not the draft's best overall player. Will be a franchise QB in Seattle and fits Jim Bates' offense very well.

15. New York Giants—Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama
Not a good scheme fit, but Giants don't seem to care about that when acquiring players (see Chris Canty free agent signing last offseason).

16. Tennessee—Kyle Wilson, CB, Boise State
Maybe a little high for Wilson, but he is the best player available at a possible need position.

17. San Francisco—Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida
Spikes is a great fit for the 3-4 and will star for years to come alongside Patrick Willis. 49ers are building a dominant defense in this mock draft. Must get a good corner in this draft though.

18. Pittsburgh—Mike Iupati, OT/OG, Idaho
If Clausen were still available, he'd be the obvious pick. Since he's not, they pick up another need position and hope they can pry Jason Campbell from DC or get lucky with a second or third round QB (Jonathan Crompton maybe?).

19. Atlanta—Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri
Weatherspoon should be a second rounder, but will climb because of his physical tools. I'm just glad he's not going to be wearing black and gold.

20. Houston—Kareem Jackson, CB, Alabama
Jackson has rightly flown up draft boards. Houston would like a safety also, but there are good ones available later in the draft, so they will go with the best CB available.

21. Cincinnati—Jermaine Gresham, TE, Oklahoma
Gresham finally gives Cincy a TE that can catch the football; something they haven't had since...ever?

22. New England—Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
I have a feeling his "character concerns" are not as bad as they sound. His play on the field is worth a top-10 pick. Fits NE very well.

23. Green Bay—Charles Brown, OT, Southern California
Packers need an OT and Brown fits zone scheme well. Perfect situation for GB.

24. Philadelphia—Taylor Mays, S, Southern California
Mays is a Brian Dawkins clone. Philly would be laughing all the way to the bank with this selection.

25. Baltimore—Jason Pierre-Paul, DE/OLB, South Florida
GM Ozzie Newsome is known to be a wonderful talent selector. He is not afraid to take chances with players. The talent is there, which leaves it up to the coaches to make sure they get the most out of him.

26. Arizona—Nate Allen, S, South Florida
Given the available players, Allen is the best player available at a possible position of need. Good solid FS to take over for Antrel Rolle.

27. Dallas—Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers
Dallas would love to have an elite player at LT. Davis could be that and has a lot less pressure to be that because he's a late first rounder.

28. San Diego—Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
Another pick I personally would disagree with, yet if Williams is available, it's hard to imagine the Chargers passing up on him, although there is a guy still available who would be hard to pass up. Finding a nose tackle is harder than finding a RB though.

29. New York Jets—Devin McCourty, CB, Rutgers
You know the saying...you can never have enough cornerbacks. That's exactly what this selection is all about. I'm not saying I agree with it, just that it makes the most sense given the circumstances.

30. Minnesota—CJ Spiller, RB, Clemson
The rich get richer. Spiller and Adrian Peterson equals OMG! The Vikings might lead the world in offense with this trio which includes Percy Harvin. Now if they can only find a QB for the future, whenever that is.

31. Indianapolis—Jerry Hughes, DE, Texas Christian
I think Hughes is a better fit for a 3-4, but Indy would love to have a third pass rusher that they could count on in nickel situations. He's a guy that can develop over time and doesn't need to feel pressure to be great immediately.

32. New Orleans—Arthur Jones, DT, Syracuse
The Champs could have gone a number of directions with this pick. I debated back and forth between Daryl Washington and Jones. Ultimately it came down to the nepotism idea. Jones played for former Saints OC Doug Marrone. Jones will fill a hole and help the Saints run D tremendously.
