NFL Draft 2010: These Men Can Help The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tom EdringtonApr 21, 2010

While you brace yourselves for the 2010 draft picks by your Tampa Bay Buccaneers, here are some players that your humble servant has watched and can personally vouch for. These men could help the Buccaneers and the bet here is that some would emerge as quality starters.

Defensive line Ā

Let me introduce you to East Carolina's one-man-gang, Linval Joseph .

He has what neither Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy have—great size.Ā

Joseph is 6'5", 322 lbs, and has power and quickness. Joseph performed well at the combine, but having seen most ofĀ East Carolina's football games the past two seasons, this guy will be a factor at the next level.

He has huge upside and is a bit raw in technique, otherwise he'd be a first-round pick. The Bucs should use one of their second-round picks to get him.

Wide receiver

The Bucs are so very needy at this position.

I love Golden Tate from Notre Dame. Yes, he's only 5'10", 195 lbs, but he's not small, just short.

I watched virtually all the Irish games this season and every time they needed a big play, he's the guy who was making it.

Without him, Jimmy Clausen would be a fourth-round draft pick. Tate has marvelous hands and he fights for the football. He's also a huge threat as a punt return man. Josh Freeman would love this guy.

Riley Cooper from Florida is already better than Michael Clayton. He's 6'3", 215, and actually has great hands, unlike Clayton.

He has speed and will catch the football, and he actually WANTS to play for the Buccaneers, if you can believe that. This guy will be a factor in the NFL.

Hopefully the Bucs recognize that and take him if he's available after the second round.

Tight end

If you didn't see Dorin Dickerson from Pitt play this year, you missed a fine athlete. He's 6'2", 230, and has really good hands and ran a 4.4 in the 40 at the combine. He's a playmaker and reminds me of Kellen Winslow Jr. without the attitude.

Running backs

Darius Marshall of Marshall. Good guy for the later rounds. Productive and could make thisĀ team.

Brandon James from Florida. Small guy with incredible speed who's worth a late-round pick.

Andre Dixon from UConn. Productive player who was coached well in college by Randy Edsall. He's 6'1", 210, and a class act.

Fullback Ā

This team needs a beast. Try Rashawn Jackson from Virginia. He's a 6'1", 245-pound butt-buster.

Offensive linemen

Kevin Haslam from Rutgers. He's a 6'5", 300-pound offensive tackle who may be available in the later rounds. The Bucs had good luck with another Rutgers lineman, Jeremy Zuttah.

Doug Palmer from East Carolina. Sure, I'm biased for ECU guys but Doug's a quality lineman. He's 6'3", 314, and he's a guard with really good footwork and uses his hands well.

Safety

Myron Rolle , Florida State. Great athlete with excellent size at 6'1", 217.

This team could use a man of his talent and intellect, he'sĀ a Rhodes Scholar and probablyĀ smarter than the entire coaching staff and front office.

Quarterback

The Bucs will look for a quarterback late. How about Zach Robinson from Oklahoma State or Chris Turner from Maryland. Turner missed the second half of the Maryland season with a knee injury and that moved him into the later rounds.

There you have it. You want some sleepers who can help this team, now you have them.
