Chicago Bulls Vow to Get Nasty in Game Two Against the Cleveland Cavaliers

Chris MurphyApr 19, 2010

The Chicago Bulls simply were beat in Game One in the team's best of seven series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavs not only shot better from the field and shot more free throws, but also beat the Bulls in those "nasty" categories.

The Cavs outrebounded the Bulls 50-38, including 13 offensive boards, and had 12 blocks to the Bulls' seven.

The good news for the Bulls is that they won the turnover battle 14-18 and had more steals.

The bad news is that the Bulls could never overcome the team's slow start. The Bulls won quarters two through four by one point, but unfortunately the game of basketball has four quarters.

Going into Game Two, the Bulls have a new plan. Get nasty.

"We got to have some type of swagger or nastiness about ourselves," Derrick Rose said. "You'll see that [Monday]."

This nastiness starts down low with Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson. Both of whom cannot get into foul trouble or look overwhelmed as they did in Game One.

The Cavs took both completely out of their games.

Noah and Gibson shot a combined 8-of-19 with just one trip to the free-throw line along with just 13 rebounds. Anderson Varejao out-rebounded Noah and Gibson combined.

Noah and Gibson simply cannot start swiping at Shaq and Antawn Jamison, getting themselves into foul trouble, and forcing Brad Miller and Hakim Warrick on the floor.

It is a bad enough matchup having Noah against Shaq and Gibson against Jamison, but throw Miller or Warrick against either and it's like throwing steak at a hungry dog. Neither Miller nor Warrick can front Shaq or Jamison nor can they hold their ground behind them.

The Bulls will need to channel their inner Detroit "Bad Boys" Pistons, which is blasphemy among Bulls fans, but it needs to happen.

How do you stop a horse that is faster? You take out its legs.

The Cavs are better in all aspects of the game, so in order to compete with them the Bulls will have to add some bruises to their dancing legs.ย

The good news for Bulls' fans is the fact Rose is saying the Bulls will have to get nastier.

What exactly does a "nasty" Derrick Rose look like and who would like to guard that?

"We'll see what we're made of on Monday," Noah said.

Bring your ice packs and Band-Aids to Monday's game. Things could get ugly.
