2008 MLB All-Star Game Review: Cliff Lee
It was obvious who would start for the American League in the 2008 MLB All-Star Game: Cleveland Indians' lefty, Cliff Lee.
After beginning the season with a microscopic ERA, Lee tossed his way to a 12-2 record and a 2.31 in easily being the most dominant pitcher in the AL thus far.
Lee's performance Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium was no less dominant, striking out the first two batters of the game, giving up just one hit in two innings of work.
He mixed together an above-average fastball with very effective sliders and curveballs to stop the NL's best from getting on base.
Houston Astro’s slugger, Lance Berkman, was the player to leave the infield against Lee, with a “pop out.”
It is easy to see how Lee had such a beautiful first-half of the 2008 season, but it makes one wonder how he hasn't been doing this for a long time.
Lee, who even spent some time in Triple-A last year, has recovered from immense struggles to be the Indians best pitcher in '08.
