Ā Ā Ā  Illinois got 20 points from Demetri McCamey and was able to shut down Pennsylvania to beat the Quakers, 63-54, in a SMCAA Northwest 2nd round match-up.Ā  McCamey was 7 of 14 shooting from the floor including hitting 4 of the Illini’s 8 three pointers on the night.Ā  Mike Davis added in 11 points and 11 rebounds while Bill Cole chipped in 10 points in the victory.Ā  Illinois got the win despite making only 44% of their free throws.
Ā Ā Ā  Penn got 15 points and 9 rebounds from Jack Eggleston to lead the way in the loss.Ā  Mike Howlett had 11 points off the bench and Darren Smith scored 10 points for the Quakers.Ā  Three point shooting was Penn’s downfall, however, hitting just 6 of 23 (26%) from beyond the arc.

Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  #10 Tulsa 84, #23 Seattle 62

Ā Ā Ā  Tulsa had four players score in double figures and was never threatened in a 84-62 thumping of Seattle in a 2nd round Northwest win.Ā  The Golden Hurricane led 40-28 at halftime and the Redhawks could get no closer than 11 the rest of the way.Ā  Ben Uzoh had 14 points and 8 assists to lead the way for Tulsa.Ā  Jerome Jordan added 13 points, and Justin Hurtt and Donte Medder each had 10 points apiece on the night. The Golden Hurricane shot well, making 54% of their shots from the field.
Ā Ā Ā  Seattle got a good game from Charles Garcia with 17 points and 11 rebounds.Ā  Cervante Burrell was the only other player in double figures, however, as the Redhawks made just 21 of 57 shots in the contest.

Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  NORTHWEST REGION 3RD ROUND: #10 Tulsa vs. #7 Illinois

Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  #18 Oral Roberts 92, #15 Auburn 88 (DOUBLE OVERTIME)

Ā Ā Ā  Oral Roberts hit game tying shots at the end of regulation and the first overtime, then won the game with their free throw shooting to defeat Auburn 92-88 in a Northwest 2nd round double overtime classic.Ā  The Eagles led by five at the half, 42-37, but lost the lead and saw the Tigers go up by as many as 8 in the second half.Ā  ORU rallied, however, and Ken Holdman (10 points, 10 rebounds) made his only 3 point attempt of the night with 13 seconds left to tie the game at 71-71 and send it to overtime.
Ā Ā Ā  Auburn took the lead again in the first overtime and was leading 79-77 with 13 seconds remaining when DeWayne Reed (13 points, 4 assists) missed two free throws that could have won the game.Ā  Instead, Kevin Ford (17 points, 9 rebounds) hit a pull-up jumper from the right side at the buzzer to tie the game again and send it to the second overtime.
Ā Ā Ā  Oral Roberts took the lead in the second overtime and was leading 87-85 after two Kenny Gabriel free throws with 32 seconds left.Ā  But Dominique Morrison (17 points, 5 assists) made two free throws and Ford made 3 of 4 to cement the win for the Eagles.
Ā Ā Ā  ORU was lead by Michael Craion and his 19 points and 9 rebounds while Warren Niles chipped in 15 points in the victory.
Ā Ā Ā  Auburn got a great game from Tay Waller, who had a game high 23 points and rebounds, including 5 three pointers.Ā  Lucas Hargrove added 16 points and 7 rebounds and Frankie Sullivan had 14 points and 4 assists in the loss.

Ā Ā Ā  Ā Ā Ā  #2 Ohio State 76, #34 Western Illinois 68 (OVERTIME)

Ā Ā Ā  Ohio State needed a Dallas Lauderdale (11 points, 9 rebounds) bank shot at the buzzer to force overtime, then Evan Turner scored 7 of his 20 points to help Ohio State survive a massive scare from Western Illinois, 76-68 in a 2nd round Northwest overtime thriller.Ā  The Buckeyes had a five point halftime lead and were up by as many as 12 in the second half, before the Leathernecks went on a 20-7 run and took the lead on a Tommie Tyler (12 points) hit a jumper with 54 seconds remaining. David Gebru hit 1 of 2 free throws to make it 61-59 with six seconds left, setting the stage for Lauderdale’s heroics.
Ā Ā Ā  In the overtime, the Buckeyes took the lead on five straight points from William Buford (18 points, 11 rebounds), then made 6 of 8 free throws down the stretch to lock up the win.Ā  Turner added 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the victory.Ā  Jon Diebler had a big game for OSU as well, scoring 18 points and dishing out 4 assists.Ā  He also made 4 of his 6 three point attempts.
Ā Ā Ā  Ceola Clark scored 18 points for the WIU while Quenton Kirby and Jeremy Felton each added 10 points in the loss.
