Ā Ā Ā Rhode Island rallied from a five point second half deficit and went on to defeat Montana State 72-63 in a SMCAA Northeast 2nd round contest.Ā Rhode Island led by one at halftime, but fell behind 34-29 early in the second half before turning things around.Ā The Rams got a great game from Lamonte Ulmer, who had 21 points and 12 rebounds on the night.Ā Ulmer was 7 of 13 from the floor and a perfect 6 of 6 from the line.Ā Keith Cothran added 11 points in the victory.
Ā Ā Ā Montana State was led by Marquis Navarre and his 14 points.Ā Bobby Howard added 11 points and 6 rebounds for the Bobcats, who had a rough night from behind the arc, making just 7 of 26 three point attempts.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā #10 Saint Louis 57, #23 Valparaiso 44
Ā Ā Ā Saint Louis held Valparaiso to only 16 points in the first half, built a nine point halftime lead, and went on to a 57-44 win in a 2nd round Northeast game.Ā The Billikens great defense made up for a rough night shooting, as they hit just 42% of their shots and only made 4 of 18 three pointers.Ā Willie Reed led SLU 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting.Ā He also had 8 rebounds in the contest.Ā Kyle Cassity chipped in 10 points and 4 assists.
Ā Ā Ā The Crusaders just could not get shots to fall as they made only 16 of 54 shots (30% on the night and hitting just 5 of 22 (23%) from three point range.Ā Brandon Wood led Valpo with 12 points, while Cory Johnson was the only other player in double figures with 11 points and added 8 rebounds in the loss.

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā #18 Hofstra 79, #15 Wisconsin-Green Bay 64
Ā Ā Ā Hofstra broke open a close game in the second half and defeated Wisconsin-Green Bay 79-64 in a Northeast 2nd round game.Ā The Pride led only by one, 39-38, at the break, but opened things up in the second half behind a strong game from Charles Jenkins, who finished with 25 points and 5 assists.Ā Jenkins had a good night shooting, hitting 9 of his 14 attempts.Ā Halil Kanacevic added 15 points and 11 rebounds while Chaz Williams chipped in 14 point in the victory.Ā The Pride had a hot night beyond the arc, hitting 11 of their 17 shots from three point range.
Ā Ā Ā The Phoenix had only one player in double figures, Bryquis Perine and his 12 points.Ā Green Bay was the complete opposite of Hofstra from 3 point range, making only 5 of their 15 attempts on the night.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā #2 Michigan State 82, #34 Tennessee State 72
Ā Ā Ā Michigan State used a 51 point second half to break open a tight game at halftime and went on to beat a pesky Tennessee State team, 82-72, in a 2nd round Northeast contest.Ā With the Spartans trailing 32-31 at the half, and by as many as nine in the second half, they used a 13-2 run to take control of the game and close out the 10 point victory.Ā Chris Allen led MSU with 20 points including 3 three pointers.Ā Draymond Green added 15 points and 10 rebounds while Kalin Lucas chipped in 11 points and 5 assists in the win.
Ā Ā Ā The Tigers got good games from Wil Peters and Robert Covington, who had 17 points apiece.Ā Covington also had 7 rebounds.Ā Josh Sain and Jacquan Nobles were also in double figures for TSU with 10 points apiece.
